84E73CE5-3999-4F97-AB3A-58DB0D547B79MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – GMA News is reporting that Vice President Leni Robredo has apologized for the viral photo showing her and other politicians posing before the camera — with all smiles — at the otherwise solemn and somber Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, Germany.

The photo, first posted by Ifugao Congressman Ted Baguilat Jr., was met with widespread criticism for the insensitivity to the historical significanc of the Memorial.

But apparently, GMA News misquoted Robredo.  What she actually said was that she was apologizing for being Vice President.

Apology accepted.

The first episode of the series documents the group’s visit to the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin, Germany.  The group was, however, criticized for photos taken showing that they were all smiles, despite the Memorial’s supposedly somber mood.

Robredo later apologized for the insensitivity of the photo shoot. And so did Ifugao Congressman Ted Baguilat Jr. who first  posted the Holocaust Memorial photo on his social media account.

Soon thereafter, ABS-CBN decided to rename the series, “The Apologists”

BREAKING: Philippines Vice President, Others, Briefly Arrested By German Police

Others arrested included Senator Kiko Pangilinan, former Budget Secretary Florencio Abad and Congressman Bolet Banal.

Apparently, it is against German law to pose and smile for the cameras in solemn and sacred places like the Memorial.

The group was released after pleading ignorance of the law.

’We just wanted to show the Filipino people that we were in Berlin for an official working visit,’ Robredo told The Adobo Chronicles.
