TALLYWALKERS OPENS IN DALLAS: IS HOOTERS ON THE WAY OUT?

imageDALLAS, Texas (The Adobo Chronicles) – The restaurant concept of female servers flaunting their your-know-what has definitely caught on quickly and has taken America by storm.  Hooters is now as famous and recognizable as McDonald’s and other food places, thanks to mostly male patrons who have made the restaurant chain their go-to place for dinner and cocktails when they are away from their families or girlfriends.

Enter Tallywackers — the first in what is expected to be a chain of restaurants featuring scantily-clad male servers. The first of its kind opened this week in Dallas, Texas.

Already, Hooters is reporting a significant decline in its patronage over the weekend.

Apparently, Tallywalkers is attracting a wide base of clients — from women and gay men to, yes, straight men.  Straight men are coming into Tallywakers in droves because they didn’t want their wives and girfriends to go to the restaurant without them.  The men are somewhat feeling insecure.

Can’t blame the men.  Tallywalkers is attracting women and gay men alike, thanks to the concept of handsome and ultra-fit men serving coctails, burgers, fries and other menu items in their tank tops and skimpy short shorts.

Hooters is reportedly calling a meeting of its restaurant managers and franchise owners to strategize on how to deal with the surprising popularity of Tallywalkers.

CONSERVATIVE COLUMNIST ANN COULTER IS FIRST WOMAN ADMITTED TO KKK

DORAL, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles-The True Invisible Empire Traditionalist American Knights of the Ku Klux Klan describes itself as an Order of the Highest Class for White Christian Men of Intelligence and Character. It is one of many current unnconnected groups that use the KKK name.

The Ku Klux Klan (KKK), or simply “the Klan”,  operates on racism and secrecy, calls for purification of American society and has always been considered part of right-wing extremism.

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter, being a woman, could not be admitted into the Klan despite her views that reflect almost a hundred percent of what the organization stands for.

But that has just changed.

Today, the KKK formally admitted Coulter as a full-fledged member after the columnist appeared on national television boldly bashing and trashing Mexicans — those living in Mexico and in the United States.

Responding to questions by host Jorge Ramos, Coulter practically told a stunned live audience that Mexicans are more dangerous than ISIS. “If you don’t want to be killed by ISIS, don’t go to Syria; if you don’t want to be killed by Mexicans, there is nothing I can tell you,” she said. The program aired Tuesday on Univision.

The controversial columnist is frequently mentioned as a potential vice presidential running mate of one or more of the declared Republican candidates for the 2016 U.S. presidential elections.

EDITORIAL: FILIPINOS SHOULD PUT AN END TO THE NAME-CALLING

image“It’s More Fun in the Philippines.” That’s the mantra made popular by the Department of Tourism, one that portrays this Asian country and its population as friendly, hospitable and endearing. Yet, observers are wondering whether Filipinos have a dark side to this characterization. Like being ‘racists,’ ‘bigots,’  ‘sexists’ and ‘homophobes.’

A quick scan of Philippine social media clearly shows that netizens are not holding back when describing politicians and other personalities that they do not favor.

The following are just examples of how netizens (and sadly, some of the media) resort to unsavory name-calling:

  • President NoyNoy Aquino – panot (balding), bakla (gay)
  • Vice President Jojo Binay, Senator Nancy Binay, Makati City Mayor JunJun Binay , Floyd Mayweather  – nognog (n*gger)
  • Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo – pandak (dwarf)
  • Senator Juan Ponce Enrile – tanda (old man)
  • Kris Aquino – Ms. STD (a name she was called after going public about a sexually-transmitted disease she allegedly acquired from her ex-boyfriend)
  • Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago – Loka (crazy)
  • Undocumented Immigrants – TNT, or Tago Nang Tago  (Always hiding)

Less offensive, but still inappropriate labeling:

  • Politicians – epal  (attention-grabber)
  • Congress – buwaya (crocodile)
  • Senator Jinggoy Estrada – sexy
  • Senator Bongbong Revilla – pogi  (handsome)

(Estrada and Revilla are two of three senators jailed for corruption charges, the other being Enrile.  The trio are often referred to as sexy, pogi and tanda.)

There is nothing wrong with openly criticizing public figures for their policies and actions, but it can be done in the most civil of ways, without personal attacks or offensive labels.

Perhaps, we need to put ourselves on the receiving end of the name-calling to realize that it is, indeed, quite repulsive.
