BREAKING: Obama Endorses Bernie Sanders

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Speaking at Saturday night’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, President Barack Obama finally revealed his choice of presidential candidate to succeed him when he leaves office in January next year. And it is not Hillary Clinton.

Obama’s announcement shocked not just his audience but also the candidate he officially endorsed — Bernie Sanders — who happened to be in attendance.

With these few but emphatic words, Obama officially announced Sanders as his anointed one:

“Feel the Bern, feel the Bern!”

If Elected President, Mayor Duterte Wants Adobo Chronicles To Be Malacańang’s Press Office

image.jpegDAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In the U.S.,  Senator Ted Cruz shocked political circles when he announced his vice presidential running mate in the person of former GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina. This, despite the uncertainty of his being chosen his party’s nominee.

In the Philippines, presidential frontrunner Mayor Rodrigo Duterte shocked the Philippine media by announcing that if he is elected president, he would like The Adobo Chronicles  to be the official press office of his presidential palace.

The tough-talking and controversial mayor said he is fed up with the biased corporate and local media and their constant “twisting and turning” of his press interviews and statements.

“I want a press office that will tell the story truthfully and without any bias,” Duterte said.

We, at the Chronicles, have respectfully declined the offer and honor, but we continue to be committed to be always fair, balanced and funny just like the mayor, when reporting on news and developments from Duterte’s Malacañang.

President Aquino: No One Can Top My Hallucinations

imageMANILA, Philippines – President Aquino on Wednesday said none of his predecessors –and not even any of the presidential candidates – can beat his administration in terms of solid hallucinations.

Aquino touted the country’s 6.2 percent annual average economic growth under his watch.

But the government’s own Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reports that more than 26% of Filipinos are still living in poverty. On the other hand, subsistence incidence among Filipinos, or the proportion of Filipinos whose incomes fall below the food threshold, was estimated at 12.1 percent in the first semester of 2015. Subsistence incidence among Filipinos is often referred to as the proportion of Filipinos in extreme or subsistence poverty.

Meanwhile,  the country’s external debt amounts to 77474.07 USD Million in 2015 as reported by the Bangko Sentral Ng Pilipinas. In fact, as the chart below shows, the Philippines’ external debts were highest during Aquino’s years as president.

When asked for comment about the PSA  and Bangko Sentral reports, a presidential spokesperson pointed out, “that’s why he said “hallucinations” and not “accomplishments.”
