Philippine President-Elect Duterte: A Cabinet Position For The Vice

Vice and President-elect Duterte

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President-elect Rod Duterte has decided to give Vice a special Cabinet position in his administration. And no, he is not talking about Vice Presidential-elect Leni Robredo. Rather, he is referring to showbiz personality Vice Ganda.

Duterte’s announcement finally ends all speculation about whether or not he will appoint Robredo to a Cabinet position as is the usual practice by incoming administrations. Robredo ran as the VP candidate of the opposing Liberal Party. She won over five other candidates, including Duterte’s running mate, Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.

Vice Ganda, who has earned the respect and trust of Duterte during the presidential campaign period, will be designated the LGBT Czar, a Cabinet-level position that will serve as the administration’s liaison with the country’s gay and lesbian community.

“I can only appoint one Vice to my Cabinet, and I have chosen the one that I trust most and who has supported my campaign,” Duterte said, referring to the television host.

Vice Ganda’s appointment has not been reported in the media because local reporters have been banned from attending Duterte’s public events and press briefings. Ironically, the local media were urged to boycott Duterte’s press briefings after he was quoted as saying that murdered journalists — particularly the “son-of-a-b*****s,” deserved their fate. It turns out, it was Duterte who ended up boycotting the reporters.

President Aquino Finally Lets His Hair Down

HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – With just a little over three weeks before he steps down as president of the Philippines, NoyNoy Aquino is finally letting his hair down — or at least what’s left of it.

In a rare public display of his never-before-known musical talent, Aquino belted out a few songs as he karaoke’d his way into the night during a victory party for Vice President-elect Leni Robred0.

And he wasn’t on his own.  His ever-loyal fans that included defeated Liberal Party presidential candidate Mar Roxas and Budget Secretary Florencio Abad willingly obliged to be his backup singers to the delight of a sea of yellowtards.

One of the songs Aquino sang was “Let It Go” from the movie “Frozen,” a choice many believed was a final admission that the president and his yellow party are a gonner.

However, sources close to Aquino said that the president merely wanted to showcase his musical talent before incoming President Rod Duterte totally bans karaoke.  Already, Duterte has announced that when he assumes office, he will limit the hours during which karaoke sessions can be held in bars as well as in private homes.

Visibly absent during the victory party was presidential sister Kris Aquino who has been missing in action since the election of Duterte.  The showbiz personality was reportedly spotted in Honolulu scouting for an exile home for the Aquino family come July 1.

Duterte’s Message To Crocodiles In Philippine Congress

DAVAO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There are two names that members of the Congress of the Philippines are often referred to: baboy  and buwaya ( pigs and crocodiles.)  Pigs because of the masssive pork barrel scam that many of the senators and congressmen were implicated in; crocodiles because of their penchant for gobbling as much as they possibly can when it comes to public funds for themselves or their most loyal constituents.

Well, change is coming under the administration of President-elect Rod Duterte.  There will no longer be any pork barrels or crocodiles in congress.

If there is any clear indication that the Davao City mayor will not tolerate any graft and corruption during his presidency, an ominous sign was seen in public during the Duterte thanksgiving and victory event held yesterday in his city.

Instead of the usual lechon (roast pig), the Duterte camp served a different kind of roast for the celebration: crocodile.

Be forewarned.
