Western States To Revert Back To Mexico Under President Trump

image.jpegMEXICO CITY, Mexico (The Adobo Chronicles, San Francisco Bureau) – Under a Trump administration, the United States government will look to cancel the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), but it will also prompt the Mexican government to review and possibly cancel 75 bilateral agreements between the two countries.

Mexican Senato Armando Rios Piter is already laying the groundwork in preparation for the election of Trump as the next U.S. president.

The first of these bilateral agreements that will be reviewed and possibly cancelled is the 1849 Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo which ended the Mexican-American war and resulted in the U.S. acquiring the states of Texas and California, as well as large parts of Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming.

At today’s session of the Mexican Senate, Rios Piter unveiled a revised map of the United States that reflects the re-acquisition by Mexico of the Western states included in the 1849 treaty.

The Trump campaign has not issued a statement regarding Rios Piter’s proposal except to say that it will have to revise its blueprint for the great wall to adjust to the new U.S.-Mexico border.

North Korea Bans Sarcasm, Philippine Senators Want To Outlaw Satire

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Free speech is under heavy attack in Asia.  North Korea’s Kim Jong Un has banned sarcasm while a group of Philippine senators wants to outlaw satire.

Kim has banned sarcasm because he fears people only agree with him ironically, according to reports. Government officials were apparently warned they will “not be forgiven” if they are heard being sarcastic. Mass meetings were organised across the country to spread the word about the new order.

Meanwhile in the Philippines, four senators have banded together to file a jont bill that would outlaw satire in the  country.  The senators — Tito Sotto III, Manny Pacquiao, Ria Hontiveros and Leila De Lima — said they’re tired of being the subject of ridicule and the butt of jokes from a growing number of news satire sites.

“Why can’t these sites just leave us alone to do our job,” the senators complained. “When we are attacked on social media for our brilliant ideas, these satire sites are practically attacking the millions of people who voted for us.”

Sotto, who in the past was accused of plagiarizing the late U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy, urged his followers to boycott satire news sites, including The Adobo Chronicles, So, What’s News?, The Professional Heckler, Mosquito Press, Eritas Times, Pinoy Trending, The Sick Man of Asia,  The Philippine Trend, The Philippine Chronicle,  The Philippine Pride, Baskille, and XOLXOL.ph

In addition to the satire sites, Hontiveros also wants to ban pro-Duterte bloggers like Sass Rogando Sasot and Mocha Uson.

The bill is set to be filed in the Senate’s next session.

Why Obama Cancelled Meeting With Philippine President Duterte

image.jpegABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Now it can be told. Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s colorful language supposedly directed at U.S. President Barack Obama had nothing to do with the cancelled meeting between the two world leaders.

The two presidents were supposed to have a one-on-one meeting during the ASEAN Summit in Laos this week.

News media have speculated that The White House cancelled the meeting because Duterte had called Obama a “son of a whore.”

Sources close to Obama, however, confirmed to The Adobo Chronicles that the real reason for the cancellation was because The White House and the U.S. State Department were not happy about a recent meeting between Duterte and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

A photo of the Duterte-Trump meeting was leaked to the media just before Obama left for Laos.

Now we know.
