MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Article ll, Section 6 of the 1987 Constitution of the Philippines declares: The separation of Church and State shall be inviolable. Senator Antonio Trilanes wants to invoke this constitutional provision to have his colleagues Alan Cayetano and Manny Pacquiao impeached.

(Actually, senators cannot be impeached but can be removed by a two-thirds vote of all the members of the Senate.)

Trillanes called for the impeachment after photos went viral showing Cayetano, Pacquiao and others holding a bible study inside the Senate building.

“Don’t they know the law? They violated the constitution,” Trillanes said.

In response, Pacquiao said, “I know the law. It says ‘No law shall be made respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

“So Trillanes doesn’t have any business interfering with the free exercise of my religion!”

Good point, Senator Pacquiao.

Well, sort of. If you take your bible study outside the Senate building, you’ll be just fine.

By the way, who paid for the buffet during your bible study? Just curious.

Locsin, left, and Duterte

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Tough-talking, foul-mouthed  President Rodrigo Roa Duterte may be having second thoughts in appointing media personality Teddyboy Locsin as his country’s new ambassador to the United Nations.

The reason?  Locsin is even more foul-mouthed than Duterte, and that doesn’t sit well with the president.

“Dont you dare upstage me,” Duterte reportedly told Locsin.

Duterte’s admonition came after the news media published Locsin’s Twitter exchange with some of his critics in which he unleashed a number of expletives, worse and more direct than what have been attributed to the president.

Following are some of the exchanges Locsin had on his Twitter account. Parental discretion is advised:
