Trump: I Will Accept Election Loss If…

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump seems to be backing down from his earlier statements that he will accept the results of November’s elections only if he wins.

Today at 3 a.m, Trump took to his Twitter account to categorically state that he will accept his election loss if a President Hillary Clinton will appoint him U.S. Ambassador to the Philippines. (The current ambassador, Philip Goldberg, is stepping down this November.)

Just a day earlier, at the Al Smith Dinner in New York, Trump joked that Hillary would appoint him ambassador to Iraq or Afghanistan.

“I was joking about Iraq and Afghanistan,” Trump tweeted, “but I am dead serious about the Philippines.”

The Republican candidate said that with Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s recent pronouncement that he would “separate” from the U.S. and align himself with China and Russia, “being the U.S. ambassador to the Philippines would be such an honor and would allow me to be closer to my Chinese friends and to Vladimir Putin.”

When asked about Trump’s comments, Clinton said, “I will wait until we have the election results.  I will keep you in suspense.”

Philippine National Police Criticized For Duterte And Obama Halloween Masks

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Philippine cops are distributing paper masks of horror characters as well as of Presidents Barack Obama Rodrigo Duterte to remind the public of safety tips for the upcoming Halloween season.

The Philippine National Police (PNP)’s Community Relations Groups (PCRG) has started handing out horror-themed masks  with safety tips printed at the back in different establishments and train stations in Metro Manila.

PCRG Director Senior Supt. Gilbert Cruz explained that the inclusion of Obama in the police’s Halloween masks was not intended to shame the American president  even after  Duterte’s recent announcement of severing ties with America. In fact, Cruz said they decided to use Obama masks “in a good way” as it would pique the public’s curiosity.

But the good intention of the PCRG didn’t sit well with many Filipinos and Americans residing in the Philippines.  They criticized the masks, albeit for strange reasons.

The critics said neither of the masks looked like Duterte nor Obama.  Rather, they said that the Duterte mask looked like Dallas Mavericks NBA team owner Mark Cuban, while the Obama mask looked like the late comedienne Joan Rivers.

Obama Invites Philippine President Duterte For A White House Beer Summit

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – President Barack Obama is not giving up America’s little brown that easily, despite pronouncements in China by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte that he wants to “separate” from the United States.

In an effort to maintain the colonial and friendly relations between the two countries, Obama has invited Duterte to come to the White House for a “beer summit.”

This is not the first time that Obama has used beer diplomacy in trying to resolve important issues.

Many will recall that in 2009, Obama invited Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr., who was arrested at his Cambridge, Massachusetts home by local police officer Sgt. James Crowley, who was responding to a 9-1-1 caller’s report of men breaking and entering the residence. The arrest initiated a series of events that unfolded under the spotlight of the international news media.

The arrest occurred just after Gates returned home to Cambridge after a trip to China. Gates found the front door to his home jammed shut and, with the help of his driver, tried to force it open. A local witness reported their activity to the police as a potential burglary in progress.

On July 22 that year, Obama invited both parties to the White House to discuss the issue over beer, and on July 30, Obama and Vice President Joe Biden joined Crowley and Gates in a private, cordial meeting in a courtyard near the White House Rose Garden; this became known colloquially as the “Beer Summit”.

In a Skype call with Duterte who is still in China for an official state visit, The Adobo Chronicles asked for the Philippine president’s reaction to the Obama invitation.

He said:  “I am open to meeting with that ‘son of a whore’ over beer, but I must insist that only San Mig Light will be served.

(San Mig Light is the most popular local light beer in the Philippines.)
