BREAKING: Manny Pacquiao To Quit Philippine Senate Seat

IMG_2564.PNGBRISBANE, Australia (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – Once a boxer, always a boxer.

Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao told The Adobo Chronicles that he has made a very difficult decision to quit his seat as an elected senator of the Philippines.

Pacquiao made the decision on the eve of  his WBO World Welterweight title fight against Australian Jeff Horn.

“I really miss boxing,” he said, “and the smart and wonderful people associated with the boxing sport.”

“In the senate, my colleagues there are nothing but self-centered, dumb-*sses who are more concerned about their image and political career rather than the welfare of the Filipino people who put them in office.”

“Since I joined the senate, no significant legislation has been put forward to help with the plight of my countrymen.  It seems the senators are more interested in conducting hearing after hearing even on the minutest of issues.  I’m fed up!”

The boxer-turned-politician added that he would be of better service to the Filipino people if he remained in the ring.  “I can better bring honor to my country by being a champion boxer,” he said.

The Pacquiao-Horn boxing match is being billed the “Battle of Brisbane,” and will be held on Sunday morning, Philippine time, at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

U.S., China Simultaneously Unload Aid, Donations To The Philippines At Clark

IMG_2537.JPGCLARK AIRBASE, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In an unusual display of international cooperation, both the United States and China yesterday unloaded their respective government aid and donations to the Philippines at ceremonies held at Clark Airbase in Pampanga.

The Chinese and American planes parked side by side on the tarmac and it was a sight to behold.

China 🇨🇳  turned over P370 million worth of arms and ammunition to President Rodrigo Duterte, along with a P5 million donation for the families of slain soldiers in Marawi City.  This is on top of the P15 million it earlier donated to the Philippine government for the rehabilitation and relief operations in the conflict-torn city of Mindanao.

IMG_2546The United States 🇺🇸 , on the other hand, unloaded its generous donation to the Marawi siege victims — 300 cases of SPAM. (Unknown perhaps to the Donald Trump administration, most of the victims of the Marawi siege practice the Muslim Faith and do not eat pork.)

Duterte expressed the Filipino people’s gratitude to both governments. “Change has indeed come,” he said.

City Of Boston To Investigate Philippines VP Leni Robredo Over Her Claims Of Garbage Diving

IMG_2520.PNGBOSTON, Massachusetts (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – In her recent radio program ‘BISErbisyong Leni,’ Philippines Vice President said that during her two-day stay in Boston to help her daughter settle in her apartment, they picked garbage in search of  usable items.  It is a practice called ‘garbage diving.’ (Robredo’s daughter starts school at Harvard this semester.)

Now, the City of Boston is planning to investigate Robredo for a possible criminal act.

While in general, U.S. courts have ruled that garbage diving is not illegal, it all depends on local ordinances promulgated by cities and states.

Garbage diving is not illegal in Boston EXCEPT when the garbage bins are located inside private property, in which case it would constitute trespassing which is defintely against U.S. Law.

The Boston Police Department is appealing to residents who may have witnessed the Reobredos’ garbage diving to contact its offices. Investigators are now also going through dozens of CCTV tapes looking for evidence that could implicate the VP in the commission of a crime.

Moral of the story: sometimes, it’s best to just shut up!
