Senator Trillanes Applies for Political As. In the U.S.

970B4622-1636-4103-9703-FE2F42895BDEWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Political Asylum in the United States is an option that many individuals who fear for their safety and face possible persecution in their home countries can resort to.

Antonio Trillanes, a vocal critic of the Deterte Administration, is currently in the U.S. and now realizes that he has lost credibility and the trust of even those who voted for him for senator.

He has been seen meeting with U.S. officials, including Florida Senator and ex-presidential aspirant Marco Rubio.  Rumors have it that he is seeking Political As.

No, not Political Asylum but a political assignment as a Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) informat.

Good riddance, most Filipinos say!

Senator Risa Hontiveros Files Bill To Replace Commission on Human Rights

IMG_3046MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Still believing that what happened in Marawi City was not act of invasion or rebellion, Senator Risa Hontiveros today filed a bill that would all but dissolve the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

Accusing the CHR of not doing enough to protect the human rights of terrorists, Hontiveros proposed a new agency that would do exactly that.

Under the proposed bill, a new Commission on Terrorist Rights (CTR) will be created with an initial funding of One Billion Pesos for the fiscval year 2018.

Reached by The Adobo Chronicles at a plush resort in Palawan, CHR Commissioner Chito Gascon said that this was a total surprise to him.  He can’t believe that his best friend Hontiveros would propose something that would make him lose his job.

Atty. Gemma Parojinog, also of the CHR, is reportedly being groomed by Hontiveros to head the new CTR.  Parojinog made headlines this week when she said she wants to investigate whether the proper “rules of engagement” were followed in the killing of the terrorist leaders in Marawi.

Jim Paredes: A Powerful Influence In The Duterte Administration

IMG_2915MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Don’t be deceived by retired entertainer Jim Paredes’ anti-Duterte rants.  He’s actually a very powerful influence in the current administration.

Case in point:  In a recent tweet, Paredes asked that Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Assistant Secretary Lorraine M. Badoy be fired while expressing his support for PAB (Pinoy Ako Blog).  Paredes accused Badoy of being a bully.

Well, the President heard Paredes loud and clear.

Today Badoy officially vacates her DSWD position.

Duterte just appointed her Undersecretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO).

Moral of the story:  It pays to be a bully; and whatever Paredes wants, he gets.
