Duterte Dares Senator Hontiveros To Migrate

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If you have the guts to dare, you must also have the stamina to be dared. This was a hard lesson learned by Senator Risa Hontiveros.

Prior to Rodrigo Duterte’s trip to Beijing a few weeks ago, Hontiveros dared the President to stand up to China and protest the presence of Chinese vessels around Pagasa Island occupied by the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea.

Well, shortly after Duterte arrived from his China trip, the news media have reported that China has started withdrawing its vessels from the disputed territory.

So now, Duterte is returning the favor to Hontiveros by daring the Senator to migrate to any foreign country of her choice that would accept her.

A recent ‘story’ by Rappler says “migrate” was the most searched word on the Internet following the zero win of the Opposition in last month’s Senatorial elections.

Philippine City Will Be Without Water For 90 Years!

PARAÑAQUE CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  It’s a hefty price to pay to have a flawless, uninterrupted water supply in the Philippines.

Residents of one of the cities in Metro Manila received a shock of their lives when they were notified that as part of a water supply improvement project, they will have a water service interruption for the next 90 years.

We can only commiserate with residents of Parañaque.

Philippines To Totally Withdraw From United Nations

MANILA, Philippines  (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  A group of United Nations human rights experts called on Friday for an international inquiry into the state of human rights in the Philippines because of the “staggering number” of unlawful killings by the security services and official attacks on people and institutions who defend human rights here.

Earlier, the Philippines withdrew its membership from the U.N.’s International Criminal Court after petitions were filed before it accusing  Duterte of crimes against humanity.

Now, Duterte wants to totally withdraw from the U.N. saying he will not be judged by white men.  (Perhaps unknownst to Duterte, the ICC judges are not all white.)

Most Filipinos think that the Philippines’ total withdrawal from the U.N. will not have a big impact on the country other than Philippine U.N. Ambssador Teddy Boy Locsin losing his job.
