MAYOR Isko Moreno Promises To Make Manila Fully Airconditioned.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – One of the reasons Mayor Isko Moreno is not running for Philippine President in 2022 is because he has grand plans for Manila — more ambitious than the dolomitization of Manila Bay or the construction of subways.

Moreno recently unveiled his plan to make the nation’s capital fully airconditioned, putting it in direct competition with Baguio City, the Philippines’ cool weather summer capital.

The Mayor told The Adobo Chronicles that the construction of Manila’s first giant air-conditioning unit — the size of a 69-storey building — will begin immediately (see photo of model unit).

Manila’s temperature during its hottest month of May averages at 29 degrees celsius or 84 degrees fahrenheit.

FACT CHECK: NO, HARRY ROQUE HAS NOT BEEN APPOINTED DEFENSE SECRETARY

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Rumors have been going around that Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque has been appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as the new Secretary of Defense, replacing Delfin Lorenzana.

But Malacañang has categorically denied the rumors, saying that Roque stays put in his position, as does Lorenzana.

A fact check investigation by The Adobo Chronicles traced the rumors to the frustration of members of the Malacañang Press Corps as well as social media influencers who complained that Roque is always defensive when answering questions from the news media reporters.

A different kind of “defense.”

Leni Robredo Wants Eagle Replaced With Yellow Bird As PH National Symbol

QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – The Philippine eagle has been the country’s national bird since 1995, replacing the red maya. Now, Vice President Leni Robredo wants to change that.

Robredo wants the eagle replaced by the yellow bird as the country’s national symbol, urging her colleagues in Congress to initiate and pass the appropriate legislation.

It wasn’t hard for observers to conclude that Robredo’s choice of the yellow bird had something to do with the colors of her Liberal Party and the Opposition — yellow and black.

But when The Adobo Chronicles asked the Office of the Vice President for the rationale of Robredo’s proposal, Spokesperson Barry Gutierrez said: “It makes perfect sense. Just like the yellow bird, the opposition Liberal Party is now on the list of endangered species.”

As the old song goes, “Yellow bird, up high in banana tree. Yellow bird, you sit all alone like me…”
