Move Over Lugaw, Here Comes Singanglaw

VIGAN, Ilocos Sur (The Adobo Chronicles, Vigan Bureau) – There’s no denying that Filipinos, especially the Ilocanos are tired of lugaw. They are now craving for sinanglaw, the Ilocano soup recipe consisting of beef innards (similar to pinapaitan.)

So move over, Leni “Lugaw” Robredo, here comes Bongbong “Sinanglaw” Marcos.

Last weekend, Ilocos Sur held what is believed to be the longest motorcade ever in the Philippines, when thousands and thousands of motorcycles trekked some 127 kilometers to show their support for their fellow Ilocano who is running for President in next year’s elections.

As one motorcade participant said in a post on social media, ”We don’t like lugaw. We like sinanglaw.”

CORDILLERAS: Move Over, Carrot Man and Cabbage Man, Here Comes Chilli Man!

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio City Bureau) – The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) has had its share of instant celebrities from among its citizens who were just doing their jobs as vegetable farmers and workers.

Many Filipinos are familiar with Carrot Man and Cabbage Man who caught the nation’s attention because of their good looks.

Now, a new sensation is on the horizon. We’re calling him Chilly Man

Like Carrot Man and Cabbage Man, he was caught on candid camera carrying a load of his produce — chilli peppers. But truth be told, his produce were not really newly-harvested chillies. Rather, bottled chilli vinaigrette which he sells in his Baguio-based Café Tam Tam.

Will he be the next celebrity sensation on GMA 7, or the defunct ABS-CBN?

Grab Driver Cited For Delivering Sinigang During Curfew

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A Grab driver was cited for ECQ curfew violation early this morning for delivering sinigang in Purok Sinampalukan, Barangay Kinabukasan.

An unidentified kagawad told the driver: “Essential ba si sinigang? Hindi. Ang tao, mabubuhay kahit walang sinigang.” (Is sinigang essential? No, people can survive without sinigang.)

The incident happened just days after an international cuisine website declared that sinigang is the best vegetable soup in the world.

Move over, lugaw!
