True To Its Word, Ligo Philippines Donates To Clowns

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Businessman Mikko Lawrence Tung is being true to his word when he  went on social media to say that his company, makers of the now controversial Ligo Sardines, will donate directly only to hospitals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and not to government “clowns”

Today, the Philippine Government’s Vice President, Leni Robredo announced that Ligo, Philippines has donated 20,000 cans of sardines for distribution to Filipinos affected by the ongoing Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Where are the clowns… send in the clowns.

Senator Cynthia Villar To Distribute Parcels Of Land For Food Production!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – As the Philippines faces enormous challenges brought about by the continued threat of the coronavirus, lawmakers have come forward with their own suggestions and recommendations to their respective constituents to try to put a stop to COVID-19.

For her part, Senator Cynthia Villar has urged Filipinos to plant vegetables in their backyard so that they don’t have to go out and buy their food. She has distributed vegetable seeds.

In addition, Villar told The Adobo Chronicles that she and her family have decided to distribute parcels of land — for free — from their huge real estate empire to be used for agricultural farming.

This was welcome news especially among the country’s small farmers whose income has been impacted by the rice tariffication law which Villar authored.  Under the law, the role of the National Food Authority has been reduced to building buffer stocks. The law also grants licenses to private traders to undertake rice importation for the country.
