SNEAK PEEK INTO MISS PHILIPPINES’ NATIONAL COSTUME FOR MISS UNIVERSE PAGEANT

imageLAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s national costume for the Miss Universe Pageant scheduled for Sunday at the Planet Hollywood Resort in Las Vegas has been the best kept secret for many months now.  The closest peek so far was Wurtzbach’s post on her Facebook page showing the butterfly sleeve of her national costume, a terno.

The only other clue that Binibining Pilipinas Charities (which holds the Philippine franchise for Miss Universe) has revealed to the media was that Wurtzbach’s national costume will be made of 80% capiz, the prized sea shell material used in traditional windows, screens, jewelry and souvenir items that are truly representative of local culture.

Today, on the night of the pageant’s preliminary competition, The Adobo Chronicles was given an exclusive sneak peek into Wurtzbach’s national costume, designed by a famous Filipino fashion artist.

It is definitely a far cry from the  ‘wedding cake’ national costume worn by MJ Lastimosa, last year’s representative to the Miss Universe Pageant.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – Now it can be revealed. Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, Miss Philippines, will be wearing a blue and silver evening gown during the Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Las Vegas on December 20.

There has been so much speculation about what Wurtzbach will wear, following last year’s much-ridiculed national costume worn by MJ Lastimosa.  Many compared it to a giant wedding cake.

We would like to poll our readers about what they think of this year’s evening gown for our Miss Universe hopeful.  Thumbs up or down?

MAKATI CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Presidential candidate Rodrigo Duterte is running on a campaign promise to do to the entire Philippines what he did as mayor of Davao City: eliminate corruption and establish peace and order.

Not to be outdone, Vice President Jejomar Binay told supporters today that if elected president, he will do to the entire country what he did to Makati City when he was mayor: give all senior citizens a cake on their birthday.

With Binay’s latest pronouncement, he just won over 6 Million voters to his side.  It is estimated that six percent of the country’s 100 Million population are seniors.

Wise move, Mr. Vice President!
