Senator-Elect Manny Pacquiao Wants His Own Inauguration

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It looks like there will not only be two, but three, inaugurations in the Philippines on June 30.

Already, President-elect Rod Duterte has finalized plans to hold his inauguration at the Rizal Hall in Malacañang, making it clear that VP-elect Leni Robredo will not be part of the swearing-in.

Robredo has also announced plans for her own inauguration in Metro Manila.

Not to be outdone, Senator-elect Manny Pacquiao revealed that he wants his own swearing-in ceremony, separate from the rest of the senators elected in the May 9 national elections.

The boxing icon and top absentee congressman finished at 7th place in the senatorial elections, garnering 16,050,546 votes. He ran under the banner of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) of Vice President Jejomar Binay.

Pacquiao is envisioning a huge gathering at his inauguration, choosing the Philippine Arena as his venue. The arena is owned by the religious group, Iglesia Ni Cristo (INC). Pacquiao was one of the senatorial candidates endorsed by INC which is known to dictate to its church members who to vote for.

The Pacquiao camp has announced that coach Freddie Roach will administer the champ’s oath of office.

Meanwhile, another senator-elect, television personality Tito Sotto is seriously considering having his own inauguration during his noontime show, “Eat Bulaga” on GMA Channel 7, and will be sworn in by the duo, AlDub.

There will be lots of options for Filipinos as to which inauguration to attend, or watch.

One of those options is  Facebook which will live stream Duterte’s swearing in.

Guinness World Record: President Aquino Renews Driver’s License In A Record 26 Minutes!

image.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines has earned yet another Guinness World Record!

President Benigno Aquino III renewed his Philippine driver’s license last Thursday, and the entire process just took 26 minutes! It happened at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) in Tayuman, Manila.

In a statement issued by the presidential palace, it was revealed that Aquino “waited in line along with other license applicants.”

“This is solid proof that my anti-corruption program (Daang Matuwid) is working,” Aquino said, “and I am sure millions of Filipinos are very happy at the efficiency of all government agencies under my administration. They should thank me for it.”

Unlike the ordinary applicants at the LTO that day, however, Aquino was accompanied by LTO bosses, Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilion Abaya and newly-promoted Undersecretary Rey Marfil. Not to mention the swarm of news camera crew recording the entire 26 minutes.

Pleased by the new record set by the Philippines, Aquino immediately ordered that all employees working that day at the LTO Tayuman branch be given a 30 percent salary increase and a one-time “efficiency bonus” of P1,000 each.

It pays to be part of  “Daang Matuwid!”

Gay Men Vow To Boycott Remake Of ‘A Star Is Born’ With Lady Gaga

imageHOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – One of the required credentials of being gay is owning a CD and DVD collection of Barbra Streisand’s hit songs and movies, including the classic “A Star Is Born.”

The 1976 film which starred Streisand opposite Kris Kristofferson popularized songs like “Evergreen,” “Watch Closely Now” and “With One More Look At You” which practically launched a Bubba cult among gay men.

So it comes as no surprise that gay men are up in arms over news that Bradley Cooper is producing and directing a remake of the film that would star Lady Gaga.

While many in the gay community are also fans of Lady Gaga, they are absolutely convinced that the music diva won’t do justice to the film and the songs and that only Bubba can do justice to both. They have therefore organized a boycott of the impending film remake if ever it comes into fruition.

Cooper may soon realize that messing with Barbra’s fans is definitely not a good idea. Perhaps he’d be better off doing a remake of “The Wizard of Oz.”
