Steve Harvey’s Repeat Nightmare

IMG_8442.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  The predictions are in for the 65th Miss Universe Pageant to be held in Manila on January 29 (January 30 Philippine time), and television host Steve Harvey is having nightmares.

We all know what happened last year when Harvey mistakenly announced Colombia as the new Miss Universe.  He boldly admitted his error on live television, declaring instead that the Philippines ‘ Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was indeed the real winner.

Fast forward to 2017.

The premiere beauty pageant site, Missosology, has released its official top picks to win the crown.

Top favorite to succeed Wurtzbach is Miss Colombia Andrea Tovar. And the first runner-up? Miss Philippines Maxine Medina.

Or is it the other way around?

Well, we just have to wait for Harvey’s official error. Oh, we meant to say official announcement.

Steve Harvey For U.S. Ambassador To The Philippines?

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – Sources close to the Donald Trump presidential transition team have secretly  told The Adobo Chronicles that comedian and television host Steve Harvey is being groomed to be the next U.S. ambassador to the Philippines.

Harvey, who is scheduled to be in Manila this month to host the Miss Universe Pageant, was photographed visiting with Trump at the Trump Tower in New York yesterday. He gained  notoriety when he announced the wrong Miss Universe in last year’s pageant.

Trump had asked all Obama-appointed U.S. ambassadors to leave their posts on the same day that he takes his oath as the 45th U.S. president.

The incumbent U.S. ambassador to the Philippines, Sung Kim has just assumed his post in December following the conclusion of Philip Goldberg’s tenure.

Does this mean that after the Miss Universe pageant concludes on January 29 (January 30 Philippine time), Harvey will stay put in Manila to assume his new duty?

Philippine Legislator Wants To Tax Bad Breath, Body Odor

IMG_8374.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – If a bill proposed by a Philippine legislator is approved, Filipinos with bad breath and body odor will have to pay an additional tax.

In an effort to avert the negative effects of increasing the excise tax on petroleum products, Representative Rodel Batocabe proposed instead to tax beauty and cosmetic products and procedures.

In his proposal, Batocabe included “cosmetic products, or any substance or preparation intended to be placed in contact with the various external parts of the human body or with the teeth and the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, with a view exclusively or mainly cleaning them, perfuming them, changing their appearance, and/or correcting body odor, and/or protecting the body or keeping them in good condition.”

It’s more fun in the Philippines!
