WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – German Chancellor Angela Merkel and U.S. President Donald Trump met Friday and Reuters is reporting that their first face-to-face encounter “started awkwardly” and “ended even more oddly.”
The Adobo Chronicles was there at The White House to capture Merkel’s reaction to the meeting.

CAMP CRAME, Quezon City, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – Her spirits buoyed up by a recent resolution of the European Parliament, and seeing no immediate recovery from her failed love life, incarcerated Senator Leila De Lima is now seeking political asylum in any of the countries in the European Union (EU).
She made this manifestation today in a handwritten note on official Senate stationery from her jail cell in the National Police headquarters in Camp Crame. The note was slipped through a jail guard who sent it to Rappler and the Inquirer.
Yesterday, the European Parliament approved a resolution calling for De Lima’s release from prison, calling the drug-related charges against her “fabricated.”
When asked by The Adobo Chronicles which country in the EU she would prefer to be exiled to, she said whichever country imports Philippine bananas (saba).
Alas, none of the EU countries import bananas from the Philippines.
HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – A federal judge in Hawaii issued a nationwide temporary restraining order Wednesday that bars the implementation of President Donald Trump’s revised executive order on immigration and refugees.
This is the second blow to the president’s bid to restrict U.S. entry for people from six Muslim-majority countries.
Well, Mr. Trump is a baseball fanatic, so he believes he has one more chance before strike three.
White House advisers and interns are reportedly busy drafting a third executive order on yet another travel ban.
This time, however, the order bans the foreign travel of U.S. judges whether official or personal, until such time that the judicial branch of government gives the go-signal for the implementation of the president’s previous Muslim travel bans.
It is a brilliant move on the part of Trump because this third E.O. cannot be challenged in court due to “conflict of interest” on the part of judges.
