Philippine Elections: Reelectionist Senatorial Candidate Grace Poe Drops Off Magic 12

D1390FFC-F9F5-4EC8-8D80-D17AB758B3A1.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Cnronicles, Manila Bureau) – She has been consistently No. 1 in surveys on who Filipinos think should be elected (or reelected) Senator. But the latest False Asia Survey shows that reelectionist Grace Poe has been dropped off the Magic 12.

In her place for the top spot was FPJ’s Ang Probinsiyano, the long-running teleserye on ABS-CBN.

It only goes to show that in Philippine elections, what matters most is not what an incumbent politician has or has not accomplished, but rather, what voters  think is the  teleserye that would best tickle their fancy. Or fantasy.

Is this the end of Grace Poe’s political career?

Marvel Studios To Sue Otso Diretso For Copyright Infringement

147CA30D-E8CE-4096-A6EA-25883C97BB87HOLLYWOOD, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Hollywood Bureau) – Marvel Studios, LLC, a subsidiary of Walt Disney Studios  is suing Otso Diretso, the senatorial slate of the Philippine Opposition for the coming May 13 elections.

The lawusit stems from Otso Diretso’s use of  photoshopped images of Marvel’s latest blockbuster film, “The Avengers: Endgame.”

Otso Diretso substituted Marvel’s original images with photos of the eight Senatorial candidates in a political ad spread on social media. E7BB0860-6457-40DA-A8FE-F9A0AE0172CF

Speaking with The Adobo Chronicles, a Marvel Studios spokesperson said that ‘while the company was honored that Otso Diretso chose its copyrighted images to come up with the political ad, we object to the faces they used in the substitution. We could have ignored the copyright infringement if, say, photos of good-looking actors and personalities like Coco Martin, Pia Wurtzbach and others were used.”

Philippines Will Not Go To War With China Over Giant Clams, But As For Canada…

DF953231-EDE3-41F1-9F24-01C81F60E8B2MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Philippines will not go to war with China over giant clams (illegally fished out by the Chinese from Scarborough Shoal in the West Philippine Sea), but is prepared to declare war on Canada over its trash shipment that’s been stinking for many years now  in Manila.

President Rodrigo Duterte warned Canada that if it does not take back its containers of trash shipped to the Philippines under the guise of being recyclable plastic, he is prepared  to load the trash on a boat and personally dump it back on Canadian soil.

Duterte knows how to pick his battles. The Philippines may not be a match to China in terms of military might, but as for Canada? “Kaya natin yan,” he declared, suggesting the Philippines can easily win a war against Canada.

Duterte’s statement could all be rubbish, but Canada can’t say it wasn’t warned!
