STOCKHOLM, Sweden (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – Climate change activist Greta Thunberg has sent a heartfelt congratulatory message to PhilippinePresident Bongbong Marcos for suspending all reclamation projects in Manila Bay. Marcos ordered a review of their compliance with environmental regulations.
Thunberg praised the Philippine leader for taking a courageous and bold stance against those who bring damage to the natural environment for their greedy financial gains.
The Adobo Chronicles could not get a copy of Thunberg’s message to Marcos, but we asked on in-house AI to give us an idea of what the activist said in her message:
“Congratulations to President Bongbong Marcos and the Philippines for their decision to suspend reclamation projects in Manila Bay. This bold step signifies a commitment to environmental preservation and sustainable development. By prioritizing the protection of precious ecosystems, you’re setting an example for the world. The preservation of Manila Bay is a crucial stride towards safeguarding our planet’s biodiversity and addressing the pressing climate crisis. Your leadership in recognizing the value of nature over short-term gains is commendable. Let this action inspire global efforts to prioritize ecological well-being for the sake of our future generations.”
MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Cynthia Villar is appealing to President Bongbong Marcos to exempt Camella Homes from the order suspending all reclamation projects in Manila Bay. Camella Homes is one of the real estate and subdivision projects owned the Villar family.
Marcos suspended all 22 reclamation projects in Manila Bay pending a review of their compliance with environmental regulations.
“I seek exemption on the grounds that housing is one of the pillars of the country’s economic development,” Villar said.
The lady senator added that Camella Homes has already exhausted the conversion of agricultural lands into subdivisions and that her only hope is to rely on reclamation projects to keep their family business alive.
Malacañang has not responded to Villar’s appeal as of press time.
MANILA, Philippines (Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Miss Universe Philippines (MUP) Organization has filed a protest against the inclusion of Miss Netherlands in this year’s Miss Universe Pageant.
Rikkie Valerie Kollé has been named Miss Netherlands 2023, becoming the first transgender woman to take the title.
But she will not be the first openly transgender contestant in Miss Universe. Angela Ponce became the pageant’s first out trans contestant when she represented Spain in 2018.
This year’s Miss Universe Philippines Michelle Dee has come out publicly as bisexual, but MUP told The Adobo Chronicles that she is still a biological woman unlike Kollé and Ponce.
MUP is also invoking FOI (Freedom of Information) to demand that the Miss Universe Organization disclose all 2023 Miss Universe contestants’ gender status.
