MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – In a recent public statement, Senator Cynthia Villar proposed that the Department of Education (DepEd) should disband underperforming schools, while providing incentives to those that do well in educating Filipinos.
Well, DepEd is taking Villar’s statement seriously.
Today, DepEd announced it was closing down the University of the Philipppines and Phiilippine Christian University — almae matres of Villar.
”Obviously, the two universities didn’t do a good job in educating Villar, so we’re disbanding them,” a spokesperson for DepEd told The Adobo Chronicles.
”Unfortunately, we can’t close down New York University because we do not have jurisdiction over U.S. schools,” DepEd said.
