New, Inexpensive Cauldron Will Be Ready For SEA Games Opening

NEW CLARK CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Bowing to pressure and criticism, the Philippine South East Asian Games Organizing Committee ( PHISGOC) headed by Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano has decided to replace the controversial P50 Million cauldron with a simpler, inexpensive structure.

PHISGOC has promised that the replacement cauldron will be ready by the Games’ opening ceremonies on November 30.

The new design was inspired by a giant Christmas tree being built in Baguio for the city’s festivities which begin on December 1.

Cayetano said that instead of a kaldero, the peak of the structure will have a star adorned with electronic Christmas lights. “It will save us a huge amount of money since we will not have to spend on fuel to light it up for the duration of the Games,” Cayetano said.

Let the Games begin!

Senators To Push For 1/2 Renewal Of ABS-CBN’s Franchise?

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – A small group of Senators identified with both the Administration and Opposition is reportedly considering to push for the renewal of ABS-CBN’s broadcast franchise which expires on March 30 next year.

We spoke with the group on condition of anonymity.

As a compromise to the growing clamor for the non-renewal of the network’s franchise, the group says it will file a bill to renew  1/2 of the broadcast license — just the entertainment portion of it.

What this means is that ABS-CBN will not be allowed to continue its biased news operations.  ABS-CBN is known for its “Teeeeeevey Patrol,” “Nagbabagang balita (smouldering news)” and “Hexclusives.”

The compromise seems to have the support of the majority of the Senators, especially Senator Grace Poe who is closely associated with the forever-running teleserye, “Ang Probinsiyano.”

The government’s communications arm, the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) is poised to take possession of ABS-CBN’s news facilities if the Senate proposal is approved.

Filipino Athletes Complain About Being Fed McDo Meals Every Day

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – After that news report by the South China Morning Post — denied by the Singapore National Olymic Committee — that Singaporean Muslim athletes were being fed pork, comes a still-to-be-published news story that Filipino athletes are being fed McDo meals every day.

In a draft story by Rappler and Inquirer intercepted by The Adobo Chronicles, the Filipino athletes participating in the 2019 South East Asian Games were allegedly being fed McDonald’s cheeseburger and fries three times a day — breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The Adobo Chronicles did its own invstigation of the report and we can confirm that the Filipinos were not happy about their McDo meals.  They wanted Jollibee chicken joy instead.
