MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Senator Grace Poe has publicly called for the resignation of National Food Authority (NFA) Administrator Jason Aquino after receiving news that buffer stocks for NFA rice have reached zero levels in the National Capital Region and others.
Nevermind that one of the reasons for the short supply of affordable government rice was the NFA Council’s (separate from NFA Administration) failure to approve Aquino’s recommendation months ago to import rice. The NFA Council is headed by Cabinet Secretary (and former rebel priest) Jun Evasco.
When told that the rice situation in the country has come about because of the law of supply and demand, Poe wasted no time in filing a new bill in the Senate.
Poe’s Senate Bill No. 0069 seeks to repeal the law of supply and demand.
