MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The Senate of the Philippines has the distinction of holding hearing after hearing  “in aid of legislation.”

One of the most-watched Senate hearings todate was that on “fake news,” which saw an entertaining clash among the Senators, members of the mainstream media as well as private citizen bloggers.

The next calendared hearing might prove to be even more interesting as the Upper House tackles the issue of “fake face.”

The hearing next week comes on the heels of the recent “revelation” on national television of the new and improved Xander Ford.

The Senate Secretariat confirmed to The Adobo Chronicles that among those invited as resource persons are Ford and no less than a member of the Senate, Risa Hontiveros.

Committee Chair Grace Poe said that both Ford and Hontiveros would be the best resource persons as the Senate tries to legislate fake faces because of their first-hand experience in facial transformation.

At a recent Senate hearing on “fake news,” Senator Kiko Pangilinan admonished resource person R.J. Nieto (a.k.a. Thinking PInoy) that because he is now a consultant with the Department of Foreign Affairs, he is subject to the code of ethics for government workers, officials and employees.

Nieto, along with blogger Mike Acebedo Lopez, had been criticized for taking a photo in front of the office of Leila De Lima in an apparent taunt directed at the incarcerated senator.

Well, the next day, several Senate employees posed in front of De Lima’s office, in what was supposed to be a direct response to the Lopez-Nieto photo.

Well, the Senate employees are now facing termination for violation of the code of ethics for government employees.

The dismissed employees have expressed anger towards Pangilinan, and are planning to appeal their termination.

What’s bad for the goose is bad for the gander.
