Top Ten Reasons Why James Taylor Cancelled Philippines Concert

IMG_7713.PNGMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – American singer-songwriter James Taylor cancelled an upcoming concert in Manila to protest Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs, a campaign of alleged extrajudicial slaughter that has claimed more than 6,000 lives.

Taylor, a Grammy winner known for songs including “Fire and Rain” and “You’ve Got a Friend,” cancelled the show — part of a February tour through Asia — in a statement posted to his personal website on Wednesday.

However, there is a lot of speculation on the real reasons Taylor cancelled the show. Here are the top ten, as compiled by The Adobo Chronicles:

  1. We asked the Filipino millennials what they thought of James Taylor’s concert in Manila. Their response: ‘James who?’
  2. We asked Filipino baby boomers the same question. Their response: ‘What for? As senior citizens, we get to go see free movies every Tuesday.’
  3. Taylor’s famous song, ‘You’ve Got A Friend.’ Well, not in Duterte.
  4. Taylor’s famous song, ‘Sweet Baby James.’ Not anymore, say the majority of Filipinos.
  5. Concert venue Mall of Asia’s full house capacity: 20,000. Advanced ticket sales to date: 200.
  6. Top concert ticket price: P14,260. That’s more than the cost of two rountrip airline tickets to Boracay, the world’s most beautiful island.
  7. Lowest concert ticket price: P2,120. My, that’s a lot of pre-paid minutes on your smart phone!
  8. Filipinos to James Taylor: ‘You are no Miss Universe.’
  9. Filipinos to James Taylor: ‘You are no  Manny Pacquiao.’
  10. Taylor’s famous song; ‘Long Ago and Far Away.’ Yup, that’s  James Taylor alright!
  11. (Bonus reason). He’s afraid he’d be jailed in Manila, having been a self-confessed former heroine addict.

De Lima To Duterte: Stop Taking Fentanyl; Duterte to De Lima: Stop Taking Flibanserin

img_7710MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Fentanyl has driven President Rodrigo Duterte to madness, Sen. Leila de Lima said Wednesday.

“Duterte  should stop taking Fentanyl because obviously it has already driven him to madness and to fits of paranoia where everyone he sees is either a drug addict or a drug lord,” De Lima said in a statement.

Reacting to De Lima’s statement, Duterte said that the lady senator should stop taking Flibanserin.

Flibanserin is a drug to treat sexual dysfunction in premenopausal women – dubbed the “female Viagra” and  has received approval from the US Food and Drug Administration.

Manufactured by Sprout Pharmaceuticals, flibanserin (brand name Addyi) has been given the green light by the federal drug agency for the treatment of hypoactive sexual desire disorder (HSDD) – a condition characterized by low sexual desire.

Duterte said that the female Viagra is most likely the reason why De Lima has been  sexually involved with her driver and bodyguards.

UN Human Rights Commissioner Wants Philippine President Duterte To Undergo Lie-Detector Test

NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, New York Bureau) – The United Nations High Commissioner on Human Rights wants Rodrigo Duterte to undergo a lie-detector test.

High Commissioner Zied Ra’ad Al Hussein (no relation to Saddam Hussein or Barack Hussein Obama), issued the call after the Philippine president admitted that he personally killed suspected criminals while he was mayor of Davao City.

“I don’t believe him for a second,” Hussein said, “because he has said so many things in the past which are unbelievable or simply not true. This could be another one of his ‘hyperboles’ ”

“But Duterte’s statement puts me in a binding situation because it is my duty to investigate human rights violations.  If I don’t do anything, I might be fired.”

The UN official said that a lie-detector test which he is certain would prove that Duterte lied in his admission will make his job as commissioner much easier and that he would not have to spend time investigating the Philipine leader.

“I have much more important things on my plate, like looking into war crimes and human rights violations in Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq and other countries,” Hussein told The Adobo Chronicles.
