LONDON, United Kingdom (The Adobo Chronicles, Berlin Bureau) – The British government today issued a clarification regarding a news report published in the Da1lymail.com that Filipinos are now eligible to visit the United Kingdom without obtaining a visa.
The report stated that newly-appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May had announced a new visa policy for 3 countries that included the Philippines, Republic of South Africa and Rwanda.
The decision reportedly took into consideration the Socio-Economic, Political, Foreign and Human Rights Policies instituted over the past 60 months by the named countries.
Today, however, the Office of the British Prime Minister clarified that the news report is not entirely true, saying that only Filipino citizens who speak with a British accent are eligible for the new visa-free policy.
So, Pinoys, it’s time to practice your British accent!

This is adobo chronicle. It’s obviously not true. How will your accent become a basis for you to be visa-free to UK. Adobo Chronicle is known to exaggerate things up with news and current issues.

What an interesting requirement to enter U.K. But we must know that Adobo chronicle is just for fun…

If this were true, how come it hasn’t been spread all over the news? This is of a magnitude that Filipinos would be dancing in the streets for. I am Filipino and I would dance for this. Were it true, of course.

It’s a cruel hoax. Nothing has been announced by the UK government. I am British, married to a Filipina, and we live in the UK. If this was true we would know about it. It isn’t.

What is a British accent? I have been with many British teachers here and one thing that is common to them when they say or pronounce a word is that, a certain letter is removed. I think it is hidden somewhere. Then in most cases if you are going to listen to them while saying the word it’s just like one of the letter was eaten up! That’s what I observed to the Brittons, seriously. So that’s their accent. In that case, we Filipinos should start pronouncing the word with a one letter being missed-out. Feels like Brittons, huh! Visa Free Access is GRANTED. What a dismay.

Mia,
How do decide which letter to miss out?

Hi Mia, I am an Englishman and my Girlfriend is from the Philippines and she speaks better English than I do, never mind somebody with a deep Liverpool or Newcastle accent for example,, I love the Philippines except for the new government that is in place and the mass slaughters of mainly poor people they have ordered over the last 8 months, (7,600 people) anyway back to the point If I was a Philippine I would choose Australia to visit over the UK for sure,. best wishes too you,,

It would be nice if they had given a definition of a ‘British’ accent. Within the UK there are numerous accents (Scottish,Welsh,Northern Ireland and numerous England regional accents). The Pinoys that I know who already live in the UK have picked up the local accent and although most of the English speakers who have never left their home do use an American vocabulary their accent usually fits their Philippine locality (even most of the call center workers).

It’s nonsense the British government wouldn’t say you have to speak an British accent. I wouldn’t trust it at present. Look on https://www.gov.uk that is the website of the British government.
