Philippine Presidential Survey Rigged?

CaptureMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles®) – As the 2016 Philippine presidential elections draw near, concerned citizens and watchdog organizations are focusing attention on election procedures which historically, have been marred by anomalies ranging from voter fraud to ballot-rigging.

Too many Filipino candidates for political office have been cheated out of the elections by systemic miscounts of votes in past elections.

But the numbers game is evident not only in the election process but even in polls and surveys, as shown in the latest national presidential survey conducted by pollster Social Weather Stations (SWA).

In the latest poll involving the three declared candidates for president, Senator Grace Poe continues to be the front runner with 47% of respondents favoring her, followed by the Aquino Administration’s bet Mar Roxas at 39%.  Vice President Jejomar Binay who, prior to the candidacy announcements by Roxas and Poe, had been the top favorite in the polls, now comes in third at 35%.

But it looks like even the poll numbers have been rigged to benefit one or all candidates:  the total of the three percentages amounts to 121%.

Where did the extra 21% come from?

It’s more fun in the Philippines.

U.S. CONGRESSMAN STEALS FROM THE POPE!

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – A United States congressman faces possible charges of theft after he stole the half-full drinking glass used by Pope Francis during his address to the joint session of Congress.

On Thursday, while his colleagues were distracted with the pope’s departure from the House chamber, Rep. Bob Brady (D-Pa.) sneaked up to the lectern and snatched the glass used by His Holiness, the Philadelphia Daily News first reported.

He carefully carried the glass back to his office where he sipped the water and then passed it around to his wife and two staffers. Later, he invited Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) to his office, who, along with his wife and mother, dipped his fingers in the water. Casey’s office confirmed this was true.

Brady plans to make the papal glass part of his collection, along with a similar drinking glass used by Barack Obama which the congressman stole during the presidential inauguration.

If convicted, Brady faces two possible punishments: corporal (under the Penal Code) and spiritual (under the Ten Commandments).

He should have thought of the Eighth Commandment before laying hand on the papal glass! “Thou Shalt Not Steal.”

On the other hand, the bible also says, “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for they shall be filled.” (Matthew 5:6)

NASA TO ANNOUNCE MONDAY: EARTHLY DEBRIS FOUND ON MARS

imageWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – The National Aeoronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is expected to announce on Monday that scientists have discovered on the surface of the red planet what appears to be debris from earth.

NASA is preparing to reveal  the “major science finding” in a special news conference that will take place at 11.30 a.m. EDT (4.30 p.m. BST) on Monday to be broadcast live on NASA TV. Reporters will be onsite and asking questions by phone, while the public can get involved via #AskNASA.

Because of the ground-breaking discovery, scientists are now speculating that human life could exist in Mars.

The debris consist of rusty man-made equipment which resemble those of film cameras, recorders and lighting paraphernalia.

In advance of the news conference, The Adobo Chronicles® interviewed key inside sources at NASA who spoke on the condition of anonymity.  They confirmed that the debris were, indeed, equipment recently left behind by a film crew from earth.

We contacted 20th Century Fox, distributors of the upcoming Matt Damon starrer, ‘The Martian,’ but executives refused to confirm or deny that the debris found in Mars had anything to do with their movie which is set to be released worldwide next week.

We’ll just have to wait for the official NASA announcement on Monday.
