U.S. ANNOUNCES ‘NO VISA’ POLICY FOR FILIPINOS

Washington, D.C. – The State Department today announced a life-changing new policy for Filipinos. Visas will no longer be required to travel to the United States. The policy to take the Philippines off the list of countries whose citizens are required to obtain visas for travel to the U.S. is effective immediately.

The new policy comes on the heels of a recent survey showing that an overwhelming majority of Filipinos have a favorable view of the United States. The Philippines ranked first in a global survey on the image of the United States worldwide, beating even the U.S. itself when it comes to a favorable view on the American people.

According to the 2013 Global Attitudes Project of the Pew Research Center in Washington DC, the Philippines got an 85 percent score, the highest, when people were asked “Do you have a favorable or unfavorable view of the US?”

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said that the State Department made this monumental decision as a way to reward the Filipinos for making the U.S. really look good in the survey.

With this new policy, the U.S. is now added to the list of 25 countries which do not require travel visas for Filipinos. These countries include most of the Philippines’ Southeast Asian neighbors as well as some countries in Latin America including Brazil, Costa Rica, Peru and Bolivia.

The “no visa” policy comes just in time for the visit to the Philippines later this month by U.S. President Barack Obama.

UPDATE: Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy in Manila asked that Filipinos refrain from calling the consular office to avoid its phone system from crashing.  Instead, people are being asked to download and complete the biographical form and submit it to the embassy, along with four 2×2 colored ‘selfie’ photos at least one week before they depart for the U.S.  The biographical form will be filed by the embassy for reference  just in case Filipinos overstay in the U.S.  The no-visa policy for Filipinos is good for 60 days stay in all states except Alaska.

I am so disgusted with this. The Filipino are some of the happiest people and to do something so innately wrong and unjust to be funny. I know we all would rather retire in Pinas, but you will need American $$$ and the good Old American Dream to live comfotable in Pinas. Deny your social security benefit and any other benifits you will receive from my Country… and lets see how less comfortble you are in Pinas… FYI, I am a pure pinoy born in the States with land property and a Kabayan for a wife… Pinas is where it’s at, but nothing beats the benefits of being an American Citizen… IDIOT…!!!

    1. Lol greatest country in the world. Why do we put such a high premium on the US of A? When in reality, they are just as in debt as the Philippines. Most of USA’s population are in debt too! Their health care is horrible! And wages are sooo low compared to other first world countries. You see on television how glamorous the country is but they don’t show the bad side. USA is poverty stricken too! If I were you, I’d stay away.

      1. USA has opportunity, unlike the Philippines. Stay away? Why… all my relatives who has migrated to the US are successful. We all started out poor here, but we are all very well off now. Philippines does have a better way of life from the family point of view, but opportunity in the US is there. You just have to apply yourself to take advantage of it.

      2. It’s true, that here in the USA we are in debt but we also have much more that others don’t. Rather then being so focused on the negatives look at the positives. USA is a place that gives people hope. A place that people dream of going and for you to tell people to stay away is very rude. It’s as if you are saying there is no hope. Every country has problems. Our health care isn’t as horrible as you make it sound. Our wages aren’t as low as you may think. No matter where you are I am sure that there are problems, but it is best to focus on the positives. I don’t think you have lived a day here. I on the other hand have lived in the Philippines. I worked under the hot sun in the rice fields for months and its an experience I will never forget, but I would rather be here in USA where life is hard, but its much easier then my time in the Philippines.
