MAR ROXAS, THE ‘NEW MAN’ IN PURPLE

imageMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Realizing that President Aquino’s endorsements are not helping a bit in his presidential bid, former Interior Secretary Mar Roxas is now distancing himself from the Yellow Administration.

‘I am my own man, and I can win the 2016 presidential elections on my own merit,’ Roxas said.  Since launching his candidacy, Roxas has been riding on the coattails of Aquino, often parroting the administration’s Daang Matuwid (Straight Path) battlecry on anti-government corruption. He has been criticized for always wearing a yellow shirt.

‘From now on, I will rid myself of all vestiges of the Aquino administration, including emptying my closet of all my yellow wardrobe,’ he said.  I will henceforth be the ‘Man in Purple.’

Good for him.

THANKS TO POPE FRANCIS, AQUINOS AND MARCOSES RECONCILE

TACLOBAN, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Miracles do happen, even between the fiercest of political rivals like the Aquino and Marcos families of the Philippines.

Yellow has always been the symbolic color of the opposition to the regime of the late president Ferdinand E. Marcos. It was the color of the people’s power revolution that led Marcos to flee the Philippines in 1986. It has been the color of the administration of the late President Cory Aquino. It continues to be the color of the current administration of President NoyNoy Aquino.

Needless to say, former First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos shunned the color yellow and so did her children, Senator Bongbong Marcos and Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos.

In the spirit of forgiveness and brotherly/sisterly love as espoused by the visiting Pope Francis, the feuding families have finally reconciled.

Proof?

For the first time in 28 years, Imelda Romualdez Marcos who was in rainy and windy Tacloban City to attend the papal mass Saturday, wore yellow, albeit a raincoat.
