BANGKOK, Thailand (The Adobo Chronicles® ) – Authorities have tripled to $85,000 a reward for information leading to the arrest of the main suspect in the Erawan shrine bombing that killed 20 people at one of Bangkok’s top tourist attractions.

The increased reward was announced after investigators said that very little progress was being made in locating an unidentified young man dressed in yellow shirt leaving a backpack at the scene of the carnage Monday night.

Apparently, investigators were following an erroneous lead from a very prestigious American daily newspaper, the San Jose Mercury News, which claimed through its August 19 headline that the suspect was hiding somewhere in Taiwan.

Taiwan is about 1,500 miles from Bangkok.

TAIWAN’S TOFU, DURIAN EXPORTS SUDDENLY SKYROCKET

TAIPEI, Taiwan (The Adobo Chronicles® )  – The Taiwanese government was pleasantly surprised when all of a sudden, its exports of tofu (soybean curd) and durian, a tropical fruit, skyrocketed.  This, in just the last two weeks.

International demand for these two exports increased more than 200% with orders coming from across the globe — from The Netherlands to Australia.

What was more puzzling is the fact that importers are flying into Taiwan to personally pick up their shipment. In addition, they were buying the tofu and durian only from specific vendors.

After an extensive market analysis and investigation, Taiwan’s Ministry of Trade and Commerce traced the sudden export surge to these two vendors (see photo).

Both the tofu and durian vendors told The Adobo Chronicles® that their goods are all on backorder at the moment.

BREAKING NEWS: JEREMY LIN QUITS THE LAKERS

imageLos Angeles, Caljfornia (The Adobo Chronicles) – Basketball fan or not, everyone is familiar with Jeremy Lin, the first American of Taiwanese descent to make it and make it big in the NBA. He has even contributed a new word in Webster’s dictionary – Linsanity.

Lin first became popular when he unexpectedly led a winning turnaround with the New York Knicks in the 2012 basketball season. He then moved on to the Houston Rockets before the Lakers acquired him in a trade.

But today, Lin shocked the basketball world by announcing that he was quitting the Lakers.

He has chosen a different career, that of actor and comedian.

Many will recall that Lin recently successfully pulled off the wax statue prank on Madame Tussaud’s museum goers. He apparently enjoyed his comedic stint that he did it again while visiting Taiwan. This time, he posed as an employee of a flagship Adidas store. Wearing a wig and glasses, and speaking in Taiwanese, he fooled customers by convincing them to buy Adidas shoes and shirts. No one knew he was the famous basketball star.

Soon after the Adidas store prank, a Taiwanese television network offered him a job and a three-year contract to do a syndicated comedy show, something that Lin could not resist. He immediately called Lakers president Jeanie Buss and tendered his resignation from the team.

Buss refused to give a statement as she was still processing Lin’s decision.

It’s Linsanity all over again.
