NSA LEAK REVEALS OSCAR WINNERS IN ADVANCE OF THE ACADEMY AWARDS SHOW

Hollywood, California – The National Security Administration (NSA) continues to be in hot water in connection with leaks of classified information. Apparently, not even Hollywood is exempt from the monitoring of phone calls and emails by the U.S. government.

In the latest breach of secret and embargoed information, an NSA intern has intercepted an electronic document from Price Waterhouse Cooper, the official independent auditors of the Oscars, which contains the list of winners in the various categories of the 2014 Academy Awards. The announcement of winners is scheduled for March 2 during ceremonies at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood. The intern leaked the document to TMZ as well as The Adobo Chronicles.

The editorial boards of both TMZ and The Adobo Chronicles have decided not to publish the leaked information, except for “Best Picture.” The Oscar is going to “12 Years A Slave.” They have also decided to at least provide a clue as to who will win the Oscar for “Actress in a Supporting Role.” The clue: it is NOT going to be Jennifer Lawrence.

This is the second big controversy faced by this year’s Oscars. A few weeks ago, The Adobo Chronicles reported that Ellen DeGeneres withdrew from her role as host for this year’s ceremonies because the producers did not grant her request to include in her opening monologue an actual wedding ceremony with her spouse, Portia de Rossi. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences has not announced Ellen’s replacement. We wonder if NSA has that information.

ELLEN DEGENERES BACKS OUT OF HOSTING THE OSCARS

Hollywood, California – Ellen DeGeneres will not host this year’s Oscars after all. The famous lesbian comedienne backed out of her hosting duties in protest of what she called “insensitivity and unfairness” on the part of the Oscar producers. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is scrambling to find a replacement in time for the scheduled show on March 2.

The irreconcilable disagreement with the Academy sprang from a personal request from DeGeneres that she include in her opening monologue an actual marriage ceremony between her and her spouse Portia de Rossi. Although they are already married, DeGeneres wanted to make a public statement in support of same-sex marriage in the country. So far, only 17 of the 50 states have legalized same-sex marriage.

“Hey, if Queen Latifah can officiate marriages during the Grammies, why can’t I marry Portia again in front of millions of television viewers,” DeGeneres told reporters.

For its part the Academy said that it was afraid viewers might tuneout of the Oscars if it granted DeGeneres’ request, especially in the states still opposed to legalizing same-sex marriage. DeGeneres’ response? “Who cares? Nobody lives in those states!”

OSCARS OVERWHELMED BY 2014 DOCUMENTARY SHORT FILM SUBMISSIONS

Hollywood, California – The 86th Oscar Awards for films made in 2013 will not be handed out until March 2nd this year, but already, film submissions for the 2014 documentary short films have flooded the offices of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. Thanks to Facebook.

In celebration of its 10th anniversary, Facebook has started rolling out short documentaries, starring each of its millions of users worldwide. The Academy has ruled that every single one of these Facebook movies is eligible for an Oscar nomination under the documentary shorts category.

While Academy rules require that to be eligible, a film must first be screened in either L.A. or New York, members of the board of governors of the Academy were in agreement that since Facebook has a world-wide reach — including L.A. and New York, the Facebook movies are indeed eligible for nomination.

With millions of submissions expected through the 2014 season, the Academy’s big challenge is narrowing the field to 5 nominees. Compare that to only 40 documentary short submissions in 2013.There sure will be a lot of campaigning between now and the 87th Oscars. If you have submitted your Facebook movie for a possible documentary short nomination, you might want to see the list of Academy voters who will be deciding your fate. Michael Moore, one of the Academy governors and outspoken liberal documentary filmmaker who won an Oscar for “Bowling For Columbine” says he is very excited about the prospect of this unprecedented number of documentary film submissions this year. “This will certainly be the banner year for film documentaries,” he added.
