PACQUIAO-MAYWEATHER FIGHT FINALLY HAPPENING ON MAY 2, 2015

imageLas Vegas, Nevada (The Adobo Chronicles) – It is a boxing match that will definitely eclipse the ‘Thrilla in Manila’ between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier back in 1975, one that is being touted as ‘Mayhem in May.’

Finally, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. has agreed to fight Filipino champion boxer Manny Pacquiao and the American fighter has even handpicked the date – May 2, 2015.

ESPN first reported that this much-anticipated match is definitely happening after years of ducking, excuses, allegations and counter-allegations between the two camps that have left boxing fans very disappointed and frustrated for a long time now. Money is not going to be an issue, according to the report. This leaves wide open the prize money that awaits either fighter.

The Adobo Chronicles  was able to reach very reliable sources within the Mayweather camp and confirmed that the boxer, who is currently training in Las Vegas, has agreed to finally face Pacquiao on May 2, with only two conditions:

First, that the fight will be shown on Showtime Pay Per View (PPV), and second  that the 12-round bout will happen aboard the International Space Station.

“Having the fight while Pacquiao and I are both experiencing weightlessness will truly make the match even — pound for pound, ” Mayweather reportedly said.

The only remaining detail that  needs to be worked out is what to call the championship contest. Obviously, it can not be called a lightweight, welterweight or heavyweight fight.

Who will be the weightless boxing champion of the world? Or the universe.

‘The Expendables 3’  is a 2014 American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film ‘The Expendables 2. ‘ The film features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Robert Davi, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. In a report by Morrison Hennigan of The Movie Daily,  Manny Pacquiao will play the role of a “vicious rebel general” in the new film.

Deal Breaker

The entire negotiation between Stallone and Pacquiao happened in the locker room just after the fight. Pacquiao will be paid $40 Million for the film role, twice the amount he earned from his championship fight against Algieri.

But The Adobo Chronicles learned that the real deal breaker was Pacquiao’s demand for him to sing and record the theme song of the new movie. At first Stallone hesitated but then Schwarzenneger convinced him to agree to Pacquiao’s demand  and so the deal was signed.

Pacquiao is known for his passion in karaoke singing.

Manila, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Fresh from successfully defending his World Boxing Welterweight crown against American Chris Algieri, Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao came home to a warm welcome from his adoring fans.

Pacquiao beat Algieri in Saturday’s (Sunday, Manila time) bout which lasted the full 12 rounds, with the Filipino boxer winning by a unanimous decision. The fight was held in Macau, China.

Fans held banners and waved miniature Philippine flags as Pacquiao stepped off his chartered plane at the infamous Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) in Manila.

Among those in the excited welcoming crowd was Kim Henares, commissioner of the Philippines’ Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR). Henares held a banner that said, “Welcome Home, Mabuhay and Congrats! Now, PAY UP!”

Pacquiao has been in hot water with the BIR in the past for failing to pay taxes on his earnings from previous fights in the U.S. This time, Henares was on hand to personally collect taxes from Pacquiao.

“Based on my calculation, Paquiao owes $5 Million to the BIR from this recent fight,” Henares said.

Pacquiao’s purse for this fight was worth more than $20 Million. The boxer reportedly already paid $1 Million in taxes to the Chinese government.

Asked by The Adobo Chronicles how she intends to collect the taxes due from Pacquiao, Henares said, “Cash only!”
