Commentary: On World Teachers’ Day, Teachers Walk Out Of their Classrooms!

Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your textbooks because we’ve got a real educational shocker on our hands! In an utterly bizarre twist of irony, it seems that some educational institutions have suspended face-to-face classes to allow teachers to celebrate World Teachers’ Day. Yes, you read that correctly. Teachers are, quite literally, walking out of school to celebrate themselves. I mean, who needs math class when you can have a rousing round of “Let’s Celebrate Ourselves for Existing!”?

Now, don’t get me wrong; teachers absolutely deserve recognition for their hard work and dedication. After all, they’re the unsung heroes molding young minds. But is suspending classes really the best way to honor them? It’s almost as if we’re saying, “We appreciate your hard work, but we appreciate your day off even more!”

I can just picture the scene now: students sitting at home, eagerly refreshing their virtual classrooms, only to find their teacher’s profile picture replaced with a ‘Happy Teachers’ Day’ meme, a cup of coffee, and an “Out of Office” sign. Meanwhile, the teachers are probably having a blast, treating themselves to a relaxing day while their students, ever the diligent scholars, struggle with online assignments.

But perhaps we’re missing the real point here. Maybe, just maybe, this is part of a grand educational experiment. After all, what better way to teach students about the importance of self-celebration than to take an unexpected day off in the name of honoring teachers? It’s like a lesson in paradox wrapped in a conundrum inside a riddle.

And let’s not forget about the parents who were undoubtedly thrilled to have their kids back in school, only to have their hopes dashed by the sudden suspension of classes. “Oh, how I’ve missed the sweet sound of silence during school hours,” they must have thought. But alas, the celebration of teachers has taken precedence.

Now, I don’t want to be too hard on teachers. They certainly deserve recognition for their hard work, and celebrating World Teachers’ Day is important. But let’s find a way to do it that doesn’t involve an abrupt halt to education. Perhaps we could host a Teachers’ Day parade where students can hold banners with math equations and history dates while marching in the name of academia.

In the end, it’s a bit of a head-scratcher. While we applaud the dedication and passion of teachers, we can’t help but raise an eyebrow at the irony of suspending classes in their honor. So here’s to the teachers who’ve taken the day off to celebrate themselves—may your coffee be strong, your relaxation well-deserved, and may your students find their way back to the virtual classroom, albeit with a touch of confusion. Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Drag Artist Pura Luka Arrested, Will File Counter Lawsuit!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Controversial drag performer Pura Luka Vega was arrested by Manila Police District operatives in his home in Sta. Cruz, Manila on Wednesday afternoon. The drag performer, whose real name is Amadeus Fernando Pagante, is reportedly being held at the Santa Cruz Police Station.

Religious group Philippines for Jesus Movement earlier sued Vega for his rock rendition of “Ama Namin,” or the Lord’s Prayer, which was denounced by many as “blasphemous.”

Pagante was charged under Article 201 of the Revised Penal Code provides the penalty for “immoral doctrines, obscene publications and exhibitions and indecent shows.”

It wasn’t clear whether Pagante would be posting bail for his temporary freedom.  What’s clear is that he’s fighting back!

In a message sent directly to The Adobo Chronicles, Pagante said he is counter-suing the religious group, the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines and Parish officials of Quiapo Church for immoral doctrines, idolatry and grave threat to public safety.  This is connection with the annual Traslacíon celebrating the feast of the Black Nazarene.

“When I performed as Jesus, I was merely practicing my craft as an entertainer. No one was physically hurt during my performance. Nothing immoral about that,” he said.

Pagante added: “What could be more immoral than a public display of idolatry, parading the Black Nazarene like a rock star, and putting the lives and safety of devotees at great risk? Is there a double standard here?”

Even Artificial Intelligence Can’t Outwit Politique PH!

Oh, how the fast-rising, intrigue-inducing Politique PH has ruffled many feathers, especially among so-called social media influencers and supposedly well-credentialed bloggers.  They MARK Politique’s wit, sassy style and grasp of social and political happenings on the Internet with sour-graping, accusing it as having “no substance.”

Some have tried to expose Politique with photos of alleged editorial team meetings and published maps of IP addresses where they suspect the literary genius is posting from. But alas, their moves have all but failed, and Politique simply dismisses them with a single sip of tea.

So to put an end to all speculation and trolling, we asked our in-house AI (Artificial Intelligence) the question on who people think Politique PH is.  Here is the response.

The moral of the story: not even AI can outwit Politique!
