Duterte, Robredo Prove Maria Ressa Wrong On Free Speech

MANILA, Philippies(The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – For quite some time now, Maria Ressa has accused the Philippine government of curtailing her rights to free speech, constantly mouthing that the “law is being weaponized” to silence her online news source, Rappler.

But no less than the two highest officials of the land have proven Ressa wrong.

In recent days where there has been some exchanges between President Rodrigo Duterte and VP Leni Robredo over the former’s war on drugs, Ressa’s claims have all but gone down the drain.

Robredo has called Duterte (and his war on drugs) a “massive failure,” while the President has called the VP a “colossal failure.”

Proof that free speech is alive and well in the Philippines.

Duterte Open To Firing Leni Robredo Again — Panelo

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Duterte is open to firing Leni Robredo again if the Vice President is given and accepts a third appointment as member of the      administration.

This was revealed by Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo, weeks after Robredo was fired as Co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs (ICAD).  It was Robredo’s second appointment, the first being Cabinet member in charge of Housing and Urban Development.

”It’s a love-hate relationship that the President has with Robredo,” Panelo said. “Love is lovelier  the third time around, but there is also the possibility that the VP will be fired three times in a row.”

Panelo didn’t say what Cabinet or other position Duterte might appoint Robredo to.
