CALIFORNIA MOTORISTS REQUIRED TO CARRY TAPE MEASURE AS PART OF NEW THREE FEET LAW

t1larg.bikingSacramento, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – California Governor Jerry Brown has signed a new law requiring motorists to keep a buffer of three feet (1 yard) from bicyclists when passing by or slowing down.  Drivers will have to maintain the space to avoid getting fined for a violation.

The California Legislature  passed the Three Feet for Safety Act which became effective as of Tuesday, Sept. 16, in the State of California and has been passed in a bid to keep cyclists safe. Statistics reveal that over 150 cyclists were killed in the state in 2012.

A fine print in the new law also requires all motorists to carry with them a tape measure or a yardstick at all times so that they can accurately measure the required buffer between their cars and the cyclists.

A San Francisco motorist complained that with the high cost of car maintenance, insurance and gasoline, the tape measure or yardstick requirement is yet another expense that will cause a burden to motorists.  “I am seriously considering selling my car and just take public transportation,” he said. “I just want to first be assured that MUNI and BART will always run on schedule because I cannot afford to be late for work.”

Wiltshire, England (The Adobo Chronicles) – Just as U.S. President Barack Obama announced that he was putting off his promise to use his executive powers to reshape the country’s broken immigration system involving millions who crossed the U.S. border illegally, the international media are now reporting that Obama himself illegally crossed a border — that of Stonehedge.

Stonehedge is the world’s most famous pre-historic monument located in Wiltshire, England that is among the most visited shrines by world  tourists.

In an effort to preserve the integrity of the monument, British authorities have built a border fence around it to the dismay of visitors  who could only view this wonder from outside the border.

In his last stop following the NATO summit held last week in Newport, Wales, Obama visited the Stonehedge and illegally crossed the border fence. He was photographed standing right in the middle of the stone structures.

American Spandan C., an avid supporter of Obama who was at Stonehedge just a couple of weeks ago, expressed deep disappointment and disgust that his idol got to stand  and be photographed close to the monument and he could not.

“It’s hypocritical for Obama to renege on his promise to legalize the status of millions who had crossed the U.S. border when he himself is guilty of the same offense ” Spandan said.

SAN FRANCISCO BANS DEER FROM CROSSING GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE

imageSan Francisco, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Daily commuters between San Francisco and cities in the North Bay have long complained about the traffic gridlock on the world-famous Golden Gate Bridge. Recent increases in bridge toll fees going southbound on Freeway 101 have done nothing to ease the congestion experienced by motorists. Many have complained that the Golden Gate Bridge Authority has been more concerned about erecting suicide barriers for people who want to die anyway than bringing relief to the thousands who cross the bridge daily to make a living to survive.

Finally, the bridge authority, with pressure from daily commuters, has instituted a measure to solve the traffic nightmare on the bridge. It has issued a directive banning deer from crossing the bridge during heavy commute time – from 6-9 am and 4-7 pm, Monday to Friday. Deer crossings have been identified as the main culprit for the traffic problems on the bridge.

Any deer caught crossing the bridge during these times will be cited and fined $500 for the first offense.  Subsequent violations will carry a minimum jail time of 30 days.
