MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The South Korean company Hanwha has submitted a proposal to the Philippine Navy to create a special Philippine version of the submarine based on the Jangbogao-III.
The Adobo Chronicles has learned, however, that the South Korean version for the Philippines is a step-down from Jangbogao-III. It does not have the capability of launching vertical missiles which defeats the purpose of a military submarine.
The Philippine Navy however said that it was looking more for a submarine for tourism purposes. It plans to offer submarine rides to Filipinos and tourists alike akin to rides offered at amusement parts in the U.S. and other countries.
The cost of purchasing the “tourist submarine” will be shared between the Navy and the Philippine Department of Tourism.
HONOLULU, Hawaii (The Adobo Chronicles, Honolulu Bureau) – In a move that has left many scratching their heads, Hawaii Governor Josh Green has declared September 21 as a state holiday to commemorate the 51st anniversary of the Marcos Martial Law in the Philippines.
In signing the Executive Order, the governor said he believes that hosting the exiled Marcos family after they were booted out of the Philippines following a popular revolt was such a boost to Hawaii’s tourism industry that it deserves its very own holiday.
Green told The Adobo Chronicles:
“Forget about honoring civil rights activists or celebrating Hawaii’s rich cultural heritage; let’s all gather ’round and raise a piña colada to the time when a dictator and his cronies sought refuge on our shores. It’s almost like saying, ‘Come to Hawaii, where even tyrants can find a tropical paradise!’”
BAGUIO CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Baguio City Bureau) – You would think that the mere sight of showbiz personality Vice Ganda would be an automatic pass for him to be allowed entry to the exclusive, member-only Baguio Country Club.
But no. Rules are rules.
The “It’s Showtime” host recently shared the incident where the Country Club security refused to let him in even after he pleaded that his main purpose was only to buy some bread, presumably the ever-popular BCC raisin bread.
It seems like nobody ever told Vice Ganda that he could get the bread from the BCC stall at SM Baguio Mall. Same bread. Same price. But no pretentious elite privilege!
