News And Cable Networks Will Not Air The Final Presidential Debate, Here’s Why

img_6394NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – The Boston Globe has proposed to scrap the third and final U.S. presidential debate between Democrat Hillary Clinton and Republican Donald Trump.  But that’s not going to happen.  Something else will.

ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, CNN, FOX, and MSNBC have all decided not to broadcast the Las Vegas debate on October 19.  The networks were in agreement it was pointless to do so.

The network executives said it is clear Hillary will win the election, Donald will spew more lies, and the Trump fanatics will claim their candidate won the debate no matter what.

But the final straw for the networks in deciding to boycott the debate was the threat from hundreds of former Miss Universe and Miss U.S.A. contestants to stage a protest at the University of Nevada in Las Vegas, forming a human chain around the campus to prevent the media from covering the event.

Many of these former beauty contestants have claimed that Trump disrespected them  when he owned the Miss U.S.A. and Miss Universe Organization, making it standard operating procedure for him to barge into the dressing rooms full of naked women.

So if you’re planning to be in the audience or watch Wednesday’s debate on TV, make some alternate plans like renting a movie from Netflix.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Several weeks ago, Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte announced that he would allot an hour-long morning show on the government’s television station, PTV4, to communicate directly with the Filipino people. Well, that television program will soon become reality — as in reality TV.

Presidential Communications Secretary Martin Andanar today unveiled the format of Duterte’s show, which in reality, is a game show.  The title? “You Ask Me One, I’ll Ask You Two!”

During the commercial-free TV show, Duterte will field questions from the television audience, and for each question he answers, he will ask two questions.

Andanar said that Duterte was very confident his answer to each question will embarrass the questioner, while the answers to his two questions will find the questioner totally in agreement with the president.

For the game show’s premiere episode, Duterte’s guests will be representatives from the United Nations, United States and European Union.

Here’s the full announcement from the Office of the President.

What The Philippines Is Doing To Drug Surrenderers

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – According to a report by PRI The World, some of the Filipino drug users who have voluntarily surrendered to authorities are being sent to Zumba classes.

Since Philippines President Rodrigo Roa Duterte launched his administration’s war on drugs, more than half a million individuals have surrendered in order to avoid arrest or prosecution.  Others are coming forward for fear of possibly being killed in police or vigilante operations.

Because of the unexpected number of surrenderers, the government is unable to provide ample rehabilitation services due to lack of facilities.

Many drug rehab centers are being set up in military camps, including one in Nueva Ecija province where a 10,000-bed capacity facility is expected to open soon. But these are hardly enough to cope with the massive response to the government’s campaign.

The PRI report, however, is incomplete. Zumba classes  are just the tip of the iceberg.

The Adobo Chronicles learned from highly reliable sources that many of the surrenderers are being referred to compulsory services and activities including yoga, Tai Chi, Karate, Piloxing, yoga, among others.

Surrenderers who are determined to be good anti-drug spokespersons are being enrolled in Toastmasters Club classes to improve on their communications skills.

Two of the nation’s television networks, ABS-CBN and GMA-7 have agreed to employ surrenderers who might be good dancers as back-up performers for their variety shows.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has also entered into a memorandum of agreement with the Duterte administration to utilize young and non-violent surrenderers as altar boys for Sunday and daily church services.

It takes a village to deal with the Philippines’ drug problem!
