WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Nothing is ordinary with President-Elect Donald Trump.  Not even with regards to his relationship with the news media.  He chooses whom he speaks to and has called news outlets like CNN “fake news.”

But we scored the first one-on-one interview with Trump on the eve of his inauguration as the 45th president of the United States.

AC: Congratulations, Mr. Trump

TRUMP: Call me Mr. President, or I’ll end this interview.

AC: Mr. President,  we heard that you wrote your own inaugural speech. Was that difficult for you to do?

TRUMP: Nah, all it took was 140 characters.

AC: How can you outline your vision for America in 140 characters?

TRUMP: I have four years, maybe even eight, to do it every day, 140 characters at a time.

AC: What can you say about the growing number of Congress people who will boycott your inauguration?

TRUMP: Let them. They’re losers. Big losers.

AC: Are you worried at all about the fate of your Cabinet appointees?

TRUMP: If they’re not confirmed, I will still keep them in my Cabinet and personally pay their salaries.  I’m rich, you know.

AC: Are you, as president, going to finally release your tax returns?

TRUMP: Only if Barack Obama releases his birth certificate.  The original.

AC: Who among the current world leaders do you admire most, and why?

TRUMP: Vladimir Putin, he’s a master hacker; and Rodrigo Duterte, he’s a genius and we speak the same language.

AC: You speak Tagalog, Mr. President?

TRUMP: No, but I sure know how to curse. Those son-of-a-bitches!

AC: Why did you choose Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” as the song for you and Melania’s inaugural dance?

TRUMP: Because I can, and because I do things MY WAY.

AC: Did you know that in the Philippines, people get killed just by singing that song in karaoke bars?

TRUMP: (calls the Secret Service) Book this guy. He just threatened the president!

(end of interview)

Donald Trump Accuses The Onion Of Spreading Fake News

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chroniclexs, Washington Bureau) – Just days after berating CNN and calling it “fake news,” President-elect Donald Trump is now accusing The Onion of spreading the same.

“I’ve been reading The Onion for quite some time now,” Trump said,  “and I’ve finally come to the conclusion that all its stories are lies and nothing by lies. Unbelievable!”

So it looks like The Onion is not going to get a seat at the Trump While House press briefing room at any time during the next four or eight years.

Sometimes, it pays to be truthful.

Approval Ratings For Duterte Rigged, Says VP Leni Robredo

img_7637NAGA CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – The numbers are in, and Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte has again received excellent approval ratings in two major polls released recently.

The latest surveys conducted by both the SWS (Social Weather Stations) and Pulse Asia have all but confirmed that despite organized efforts both here and abroad to discredit Duterte and de-stabilize his administration, Filipinos overwhelmingly trust and support their leader (80+%).

In contrast, self-proclaimed “voice of the opposition”  VP Leni Robredo suffered a 12-point decline in her SWS rating, even before the latest controversy in which she was taken to task for vacationing in the United States while a powerful typhoon hit the Philippines, including her own hometown of Naga City.

The Adobo Chronicles caught up with Robredo during one of her photo opps with typhoon victims in this city and she unequivocally stated that the surveys were rigged.

“How can Duterte remain so popular when we have done a tremendous job in discrediting him and his war on drugs,” the Vice President said.  “And how can a lady like myself who has committed herself to the uplift of those in the ‘laylayan’ receive dismal ratings?”

Robredo is now calling for an investigation into both the SWS and Pulse Asia surveys and has asked her friend and mentor Senator Leila De Lima to call for a Senate inquiry into ther matter.

The vice president’s statement comes in the midst of ongoing investigation on the possible rigging of the May, 2016 elections in which she defeated rival candidate Bongbong Marcos by an unimpressive margin.  She described the process of resolving Marcos’ electoral protest as “slow.”
