Disney Sues Nike Over ‘Cinderella’ Shoes

Nike’s ‘Cinderella’ Shoe

BURBANK, California (The Adobo Chronicles, Los Angeles Bureau) – Nike is in big trouble. The Walt Disney Company is suing the shoe and apparel giant over one of the latter’s shoe designs which it has labeled as the ‘Cinderella Shoe.’

Disney claims that it owns the rights and patent of the word ‘Cinderella’ by virtue of its film versions of the fairy tale classic of the same title.

When contacted by The Adobo Chronicles, Walt Disney could not produce evidence of its copyright or patent of the word ‘Cinderella.’

While there many versions of the Cinderella story, the first known published version was that of Charles Perrault in 1697.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, there is no known estate of Perrault that could claim copyright violations of ‘Cinderella,’ so Disney may be the only outfit that can do so.

The  lawsuit is being dubbed the “Clash of Two Giants.”  It sounds like a great title for another Disney classic.

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – It’s official: Filipino boxing champion Manny Pacquiao is coming out of retirement and returning to the ring.

Pacquiao, who was recently elected senator of the Philippines, has confirmed that he will fight WBO welterweight champion Jessie Vargas on Nov. 5 in Las Vegas.

The main reason? He is not earning enough money as an elected public official.

The 37-year-old Pacquiao said he was excited to return to the ring and said he has to fight again to earn a living. “I’m helping the family of my wife and my own family, as well. Many people also come to me to ask for help and I just couldn’t ignore them,” he said on Wednesday.

Prior to being elected senator, Pacquiao served as a congressman representing his home province of Sarangani, and was the number one absentee member of the lower house.

In Rio, Athletes Compete To Be Top, In Sao Paolo, The Race Is To Be Bottom (Parental Guidance)

image.jpegRIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil (The Adobo Chronicles, Sao Paolo Bureau) – The fierce competition among the athletes at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio is focused on the gold medal, to be the top.  In Sao Paolo, Brazil’s largest city, the contest is to be bottom.

Twenty-seven women competing to win the title of best bottom in Brazil got into the Olympic spirit yesterday by running in their own 100-metre sprint – in nothing but skimpy bikinis. They ran down the famous Avenida Paulista, Sao Paolo’s main street.

The women are all hopefuls for the title of Miss Bumbum, Brazil’s most popular beauty pageant for those “left behind.”

While the parade of beauties delighted thousands upon thousands of spectators, one particular lady who was recently spotted watching the women’s gymnastics in Rio, was not a happy camper.

You guessed it right. Kim Kardashian!
