The Real Reason Why Rappler’s Maria Ressa Did Not Attend Senate Hearing On Fake News

FC0DDD43-86BD-4555-9807-90DEA2796178.jpegMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – There is still a lot of speculation on why Cocoy Dayao and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa did not show up at last week’s Senate Hearing on ‘Fake News.’

Well, those speculations can now  be put to rest — at least in as far as Ressa is concerned.

In an exclusive interview with The Adobo Chronicles, Ressa said that the invitation to attend the hearing was sent to Rappler’s fake address.

”As an online-only news source, we do not have an actual office building or phyisical address unlike all the other publications and broadcast networks,” Ressa said.

”We have a fake postal address but because it is fake, no snail mail ever reaches us.  Everything is ‘lost in the mail,’ “ Ressa added.

So there you have it, dear Senators.  If you ever issue a subpoena to Ressa, call her or text her so that she can come personally pick it up.

Senate Employees Fired For Posing In Front Of Senator De Lima’s Office

At a recent Senate hearing on “fake news,” Senator Kiko Pangilinan admonished resource person R.J. Nieto (a.k.a. Thinking PInoy) that because he is now a consultant with the Department of Foreign Affairs, he is subject to the code of ethics for government workers, officials and employees.

Nieto, along with blogger Mike Acebedo Lopez, had been criticized for taking a photo in front of the office of Leila De Lima in an apparent taunt directed at the incarcerated senator.

Well, the next day, several Senate employees posed in front of De Lima’s office, in what was supposed to be a direct response to the Lopez-Nieto photo.

Well, the Senate employees are now facing termination for violation of the code of ethics for government employees.

The dismissed employees have expressed anger towards Pangilinan, and are planning to appeal their termination.

What’s bad for the goose is bad for the gander.
