Rappler To Be Sold At eBay To Highest Bidder

5CBF365F-BBD8-4173-B5AB-035B64942E4CMANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Maria Ressa is finally throwing in the towel, realizing her crusade to keep her online news source, Rappler, up and running is all but a lost cause.

The Court of Appeals recently denied Rappler’s petition for a reversal of the Securities and Exchange Commision’s (SEC) decision to revoke its media license for violating the Constitutional provision on 100% Filipino owership of media companies.

Today, Ressa told The Adobo Chronicles that she is tired of defending Rappler’s integrity and credibility as a legitimate news company.

“So, I might as well sell Rappler to the highest bidder on eBay.  After all, My senior managers and I have already benefited from the donation of the $1.5 Million investment of our once foreign-owned institution, Omidyar. “

Ressa added that the proceeds from the eBay sale of Rappler will be divided equally among all Rappler employees.

“You see, we like to take care of our employees,’ Ressa said.
