Philippine Bishop: The West Philippine Sea Is “Not Ours!”

In a baffling display of maritime evangelism, two Pangasinan bishops set sail across the contentious waters of the South China Sea, or as we patriotically call it, the West Philippine Sea.

With rosaries in hand and contradictions in their hearts, they petitioned divine intervention for Filipino fishermen’s livelihoods, only to pray for China’s conversion to Catholicism in the same breath.

And just when you thought their mission couldn’t be more muddled, Archbishop Socrates Villegas declared, “the sea is not ours.” Ah, the clarity of divine guidance! Perhaps the bishops’ vessel was equipped with a spiritual compass that only points to confusion.

Instead of navigating geopolitical waters, maybe it’s best they steer their efforts back to dry land, focusing on the spiritual needs of their flock. After all, when it comes to mixed messages, the Church seems to have perfected the art.

(Not Satire) Adobo Chronicles Salutes Seaman FC Underwater Operator Jeffrey Facundo

In the West Philippine Sea’s embrace so vast,
Seaman Jeffrey Facundo’s bravery was cast.
On a mission fraught with peril and strife,
He faced the storm, his duty and life.

Aboard a vessel, with courage untold,
Against the tides, defiance bold.
A Chinese Coast Guard, relentless and fierce,
Tried to halt the journey, through tactics austere.

In the chaos, a sacrifice made,
A finger severed, a price he paid.
Yet his spirit, unbroken, stood tall,
An emblem of valor, inspiring us all.

Facundo’s plight, a testament grand,
To the seafarers guarding our land.
Their patriotism, a guiding star,
In conflicts deep, they shine afar.

May his story, echoing through time,
Bridge divides, in reason’s chime.
For the love of country, through storm and sea,
Our Filipino heart beats strong and free.

Archbishop Socrates Villegas Message Borders On Racism

In a recent video message, Filipino Archbishop Socrates Villegas has managed to deliver a masterclass in subtle racism, all while ostensibly encouraging prayer and goodwill.

With a straight face, Villegas urged his flock to pray for the “conversion” of China, making sure to highlight that the Chinese bullies in the South China Sea all have “slanted eyes,” or “singkit” as he so culturally sensitively put it.

It seems the Archbishop has taken a page from the history of phrenology, believing that moral character can be discerned from physical features. Perhaps next week, he’ll be instructing us to pray for people with curly hair or dark skin to find redemption too.

And just to sprinkle some irony on top, he invoked the Blessed Virgin Mary in his borderline xenophobic diatribe, showcasing a level of un-Christian behavior that even Pontius Pilate might find a tad excessive.
