Malacanang: “Robredo Is Not The Drug Czar”

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Almost everyone is calling Vice President Leni Robredo the “Drug Czar,” but Malacanang today said it isn’t so.

Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo told The Adobo Chronicles  that “nowhere in Robredo’s appointment does it say she’s the Drug Czar.  Rather, she is Co-Chair of the Inter-Agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD),”

Panelo said this misunderstanding may be the reason that Robredo has been acting like she’s the head of Duterte’s war on drugs, giving orders to the heads of the agencies that are part of the committee.

“If she is the Drug Czar, then so is Aaron Aquino, ICAD’s Co-Chair,” Panelo said. “The bottom line is that Duterte is still Robredo’s boss, so the President is the true, one and only Drug Czar.”

Fact-Checking The Drug Czar: Most Illegal Drugs Come From China — Duterte Said It First

Vice President Leni Robredo, the newly-designated Drug Czar has been in office for just days, yet she has already made several claims which she attributes to herself.

In her latest public statement, she proudly announced what she just found out: most illegal drugs in the Philippines come from China.  What a stunning discovery, right?

Wrong.

Since the beginning of Rodrigo Duterte’s term as President, he had always acknowledged that China was the biggest source of illegal drugs in the country.

For Robredo, her claim might as well be called a drug bust. Or Duterte could sue her for plagiarism. She was using recycled information and making it her own.

Donald Trump Wants To Meet With PH VP Leni Robredo To Discuss U.S. Drug War

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington Bureau) – Just hours after Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo met with U.S. Embassy officials in the Philippines, President Donald Trump invited her to visit The White House early next month to discuss strategies regarding the U.S. war on drugs.

Robredo met with the American officials in her capacity as newly-designated drug czar (co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-illegal Drugs, or ICAD).

”I am very impressed by her extensive knowledge and seeming expertise on combating the illegal drug trade and in dealing with drug lords and addicts,” Trump told the White House Press Corps.

”The U.S. has consistently failed in its drug war, and here is this unassuming lady from the Philippines who could advise me on how to address this serious problem,” Trump added.
