NEW YORK, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – It’s official.  Donald Trump is running for president of the United States.

The real estate mogul made the announcement today at the Trump Building in New York City, vowing to make “this country great again.”

The announcement all but ends all speculation about what happens with Trump’s reality TV show, “Celebrity Apprentice” and the 2016 Miss Universe Pageant (which Trump owns).

Speaking to journalists after his candidacy announcement, Trump confirmed that will not sign  a new contract for what would have been another season of “Celebrity Apprentice.”  He also said that he is suspending the Miss Universe Pageant in 2016 in order to focus on his presidential campaign.

The news devastated many Miss Universe hopefuls, including Miss Japan Ariana Miyamoto and Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.

Perhaps if Trump loses the nomination or election (which he will), the 2016 Miss Universe candidates can represent their countries in the 2017 pageant.

IMELDA MARCOS: “DONALD TRUMP JUST PLAGIARIZED MY HUSBAND”

“We can make this country great again!” Marcos in 1965 and Trump in 2015

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – Donald Trump today officially declared that he is running for president of the United States, vowing to “make this country great again.” What a great campaign motto.

But there is one problem.  Trump is now being accused by former Philippines First Lady Imelda Romualdez Marcos of plagiarizing her late husband, President Ferdinand E. Marcos.

Rewind to 1965, during the first presidential inaugural of Marcos. In his speech, he renewed his campaign promise to “make this country great again.” And we have the transcript to prove that Imelda is correct.

Could it be that Ferdinand Marcos was 50 years ahead of his time, or that Trump is 50 years behind?

Jeb Bush Declares Candidacy For President With Brilliant Campaign Theme

imageMIAMI, Florida (The Adobo Chronicles) –  The 2016 U.S. presidential elections is turning out to be another Bush vs. Clinton contest.

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, the son and brother of two former presidents, has declared his candidacy to seek the Republican nomination for president.

It was an announcement that most people saw coming.

But what political analysts as well as Democratic campaign strategists are raving about is the campaign strategy that the younger Bush has chosen in order to clinch the nomination.

His campaign theme is: “Beating Around the Bush.”

The strategy would involve ducking all media questions involving his stand on issues important to the American voters, issues where his stand had previously been made crystal clear, including:

  • Defending voter ID laws that disproportionately affect women, minority, and student voters
  • Thinking that citizenship for undocumented immigrants is an “undeserving reward”
  • Absolutely believing that businesses should be able to discriminate against gay Americans
  • Advocating for the public shaming of single mothers
  • Taking policy advice from his brother — and recently defending invading Iraq
  • Supportiing a budget that guts Medicare and education funding

It will be a presidential campaign season that will frustrate many in the media. What would normally be a busy news season would be a slow news day, every day, because Bush will not be responding to any media questions.

If Bush wins the Republican nomination, there might not even be a presidential debate.

With Bush (or whoever among the declared Republican presidential candidates clinches the nomination), who needs a debate?
