(VIDEO) PHILIPPINE PRISON INMATE’S MUSIC VIDEO NOW NO. 1 IN MUSIC CHARTS

Mandaluyong, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles) – It shocked the entire nation this week when government officials led by Philippines Justice Secretary Leila de Lima raided what we now know as VIP (Very Important Prisoner) jail cells at the National Penitentiary (New Bilibid Prison).

As reported earlier by The Adobo Chronicles, the raid discovered luxury jail cells occupied by some 19 convicted felons.  The cells included saunas, jacuzzis, sleep number beds, carpeting, airconditioning, disco lights, high-end electronics, even a life-sized inflatable sex toy. Also discovered were a stash of cash, jewelry and illegal drugs.

There’s more. One of the VIP cells had a recording studio, complete with a stage and equipment for recording music videos.

Enter Herbert Colangco, the inmate occupying the jail cell with the recording studio. He is serving jail sentence for bank robbery. It appears that he has, in fact, recorded a music video inside the VIP jail cell  — an original Tagalog song, Pa’no Yon. And boy, isn’t he good!

The music video recording had earlier been uploaded to YouTube, but few ever noticed or viewed it. But now that the VIP jail cells are in the headlines, the music video has resurfaced and in just 24 hours has become the No. 1 hit in the country. Many Filipino recording artists are very nervous and recording studios are competing to sign him up for recording contracts.

Television host and presidential sister Kris Aquino is desperately trying to book an exclusive interview with Colangco.  She needs the interview to help boost her show’s sagging rating.

New York, New York (The Adobo Chronicles) – Pop/country superstar Taylor Swift is no stranger to Filipino music fans. She has held two concerts in Manila, one in 2011 and the latest was a one-night show of her Red Tour last June.

Swift’s catchy brand of country-pop music has single-handedly caught the attention the mainstream music scene, and she’s one of the top sellers of concert tickets today.

Swift was captivated by her adoring Filipino fans, and especially by one romantic, good-looking Filipino who was among the local backup dancers during her June concert.  In less than 24 hours, the American singer admitted she was in love. “I never thought I’d  ever be involved in a whirlwind romance,” Taylor said.

The Filipino man remains unnamed but a video released online by Taylor herself shows her saying ‘Mahal Kita’ (I love you) to this young man.  They were also caught in the same video hugging each other.

Taylor refused to confirm whether or not she and the Filipino man are still in contact, but the glitter in her eyes when questioned by reporters about it seemed to provide the answer.

MANNY PACQUIAO TO STAR IN STALLONE FILM ‘THE EXPENDABLES 4’

imageHollywood, California (The Adobo Chronicles) – Now we know why Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenneger were at ringside during the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Chris Algieri in Macau, China last week. The Hollywood actors wanted to recruit Pacquiao to star in the 4th installment of the film series, ‘The Expendables.’

The new film, ‘The Expendables 4’ starts production soon and will be filmed in the Philippines. It is a sequel to ‘The Expendables 3.’

‘The Expendables 3’  is a 2014 American ensemble action film directed by Patrick Hughes, and written by Creighton Rothenberger, Katrin Benedikt, and Sylvester Stallone. It is a sequel to the 2012 action film ‘The Expendables 2. ‘ The film features returning cast members Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Antonio Banderas, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Glen Powell, Victor Ortiz, Robert Davi, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The story follows the mercenary group known as “The Expendables” as they come into conflict with ruthless arms dealer Conrad Stonebanks (Gibson), the Expendables’ co-founder, who is determined to destroy the team.

In a report by Morrison Hennigan of The Movie Daily,  Manny Pacquiao will play the role of a “vicious rebel general” in the new film.

Deal Breaker

The entire negotiation between Stallone and Pacquiao happened in the locker room just after the fight. Pacquiao will be paid $40 Million for the film role, twice the amount he earned from his championship fight against Algieri.

But The Adobo Chronicles learned that the real deal breaker was Pacquiao’s demand for him to sing and record the theme song of the new movie. At first Stallone hesitated but then Schwarzenneger convinced him to agree to Pacquiao’s demand  and so the deal was signed.

Pacquiao is known for his passion in karaoke singing.
