Step Up: Leni Robredo’s Radio Show Now On Primetime TV

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Leni Robredo’s weekly radio show, BISErbisyong Leni,  is no more, not because of its dismal ratings, but because the Vice President is stepping up now that she’s been designated by President Rodrigo Duterte as Drug Czar.

Instead of the radio show, Robredo will co-host a prime-time  talk show with television personality and almost First Lady Korina Sanchez (wife of  former Presidential Candidate Mar Roxas.)

The new show airs at 7pm every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday on ABS-CBN.  The focus will be on Robredo’s proposed policies and initiatives as Co-chair of the Inter-agency Committee on Anti-Illegal Drugs (ICAD).

The TV show will be titled “Korina and Czarina.”

U.S. State Department To Rescue Maria Ressa From Philippine War Zone

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Washington, D.C.) – Reacting to a recently-aired interview on “60 Minutes,” where  Maria Ressa proclaimed the Philippines under the Duterte government is the worst war zone she’s ever been in, the U.S. State Department said it will send immediate rescue to the Rappler CEO.

Ressa is a dual citizen of the Philippines and the U.S.

The safety and security of U.S. citizens overseas is one of the top priorities of the U.S. State Department. To keep its citizens informed, it may recommend that they leave the immediate area or foreign country if it is safe to do so. If commercial transportation is unavailable, it will do its best to identify what transportation options may be available to help U.S. citizens travel out of the crisis location.

We are very concerned about the safety of Ressa, especially because she is one of our citizens who has received multiple awards for her  alleged journalism  work,” a State Department spokesperson told The Adobo Chronicles.

For security reasons, the State Department didn’t disclose when it will rescue Ressa or whether it will be the U.S. Army or Navy that will take her out of the Philippines.

We pray for Ressa’s safety and hope she’ll be removed from the Philippine war zone soon.

U.S. State Department Issues Advisory To Journalists Traveling To The Philippines

WASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) –  The U.S. State Department has issued a travel advisory for American journalists covering the news in the Philippines.

The advisory came just days after a “60 Minutes” segment aired in which Maria Ressa, CEO of online news source Rappler said that the Philippines is the “worst war zone” she has ever been in.  She made the comment in reference to Rodrigo Duterte’s government which she accused of “weaponizing the law” to curtail her freedom of speech.

The State Department warned foreign journalists to be extra careful when in the Philippines, urging them to wear the appropriate military gear while covering the news.
