Finally, An Apology To The Filipino People From Maria Ressa!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – After years of holding the line and lying to the world about the status of Democracy and Press Freedom in the Philippines, Nobel Laureate and Rappler CEO Maria Ressa has finally apologized to the Filipino people.

Or, at least, we asked AI to craft a letter of apology should the convicted libeler decide to do so. Will such a letter pierce the hearts of the Supreme Court justices in whose hands lie Ressa’s freedom or incarceration resulting from her conviction by the lower courts?

Dear Filipino People,

I humbly come before you to express my sincerest apologies for my actions, which have caused harm and division among our nation. I deeply regret betraying the trust you once placed in me and for spreading lies and disinformation. My responsibility as a journalist should have been to uphold truth and integrity, but I failed you. I understand the gravity of my actions and the consequences they have borne.

I pledge to embark on a journey of redemption, to rectify my mistakes, and to strive for a more responsible and truthful reporting. I seek your forgiveness and hope for a chance to rebuild trust.

Sincerely,

MARIA RESSA

Once Again, Life Imitates Satire!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Sometimes, satire imitates life. At other times, life imitates satire!

On July 13, 2023, The Adobo Chronicles published a satirical article claiming that the Office of the President of the Philippines is seeking input from netizens on a supposed plan to come up with a new logo for Malacañang (the official residence of the PH president).

Well, what do you know! On Saturday, July 15, 2023, Malacañang made public a new logo!

It’s not exactly a new logo for the Office of the President. Rather, a new logo and slogan that rebrand government service under Bongbong Marcos’ administration.

“Bagong Pilipino” seeks to instill a new sense of change, discipline, progress and all that sort of thing, reminiscent of Marcos’ late father who, during the days of Martial Law, popularized the slogan, “Bagong Lipunan” (New Society).

Here is Adobo Chronicles’ July 13 article:
