(CR)Edible Bloggers?

In the perplexing maze of information, Filipinos find themselves in a trust crisis, torn between traditional news outlets and the once-innocent charm of social media influencers turned spin doctors.

The irony is as glaring as a poorly filtered selfie – what used to be a refuge from media manipulation, social media now mirrors the same disarray. The lines between reliable journalism and sensationalist blogging blur faster than a disappearing Snapchat story.

Gone are the days when one could confidently discern truth from fiction. Now, navigating the news landscape is like tiptoeing through a political minefield where bloggers, like ambitious chameleons, change colors faster than a trending hashtag. The Rapplers and Pinoy Ako Blogs of yesteryears seem indistinguishable from influencers peddling political opinions for a retweet.

It’s a carnival of credibility, where the ringmasters are as elusive as a politician’s promises, leaving Filipinos to wonder if the news cycle is just a never-ending loop of deceit and self-serving narratives.

Credible is no longer edible.

Marcos Vs. Duterte: Rappler’s Laughable Clickbait Journalism

Ah, the wild world of clickbait journalism has truly outdone itself this time. The Rappler opinion piece suggesting that the Marcos government can now arrest Rodrigo Duterte and hand him over to the International Criminal Court is a hilarious exercise in absurdity.

The notion that the Marcoses and the Dutertes are now “fierce enemies” is laughable. It’s as if they want us to believe that these two political dynasties have suddenly had a dramatic falling out, despite all evidence to the contrary. In reality, the vice president is a Duterte who actively supported Bongbong Marcos’ presidential bid. To suggest that they are now arch-nemeses is like saying cats and dogs have formed an alliance against the squirrels.

And let’s not forget the fact that Bongbong Marcos has already declared his government’s stance on the ICC – they’re done with it. So much for turning over Duterte to an institution they’ve already disavowed. But hey, at least they’re consistent in their inconsistency. Kudos to the writer for crafting such a hilariously implausible clickbait narrative!

MTRCB Bites Hard On Satire

Ah, the wonderful world of Philippine showbiz, where the absurdity knows no bounds!

Lala Sotto, the epitome of morality in the arena of showbiz censorship, has become the unwitting target of a satirical post claiming that the MTRCB has summoned Vice Ganda for a licking offense. Yes, you heard that right, licking – whether it’s cake icing or fried chicken, apparently, it’s a matter of national concern.

One can’t help but marvel at the sheer creativity of these satirists who manage to turn the mundane into sensational scandals. The comparison between cake icing and fried chicken licking is nothing short of genius. It’s as if the fate of our nation hinges on how celebrities enjoy their food.

In the land of countless pressing issues, from poverty to political corruption, it’s a breath of fresh air to see our watchdogs prioritize fried chicken finger-licking. Who knew that MTRCB had such a keen sense of taste, pun intended! Perhaps next, they can summon me for sipping tea in a scandalous manner.

Let’s face it, the world of Philippine showbiz is a strange, wonderful, and often baffling place. And it’s the satirists who shine a light on its peculiarities, bringing a much-needed dose of humor to our lives. So, keep on licking that fried chicken, Lala, and let the MTRCB worry about the real issues – like the scandalous way we eat our adobo!
