Censorship Vs. University Image

In a stunning display of spinelessness, a university publication recently caved in to pressure from officials and scrubbed a photo from its archives faster than you can say “slurpee.”

The offending image? Apparently, some bright sparks from the UST College of Information and Computing Sciences dared to stand out in their carousel, sporting uniforms eerily similar to those worn by 7-Eleven employees.

But oh, the horror! How dare these students inadvertently pay homage to the holy garb of convenience store clerks? Clearly, such a heinous crime against fashion must be swiftly eradicated from the annals of social media, lest the world mistake our esteemed scholars for purveyors of Big Gulps and microwave burritos.

One can only imagine the existential crisis that ensued: the frantic emails, the emergency meetings, the collective hand-wringing over the potential brand confusion.

But fear not, dear readers, for the university’s reputation is safe once more, protected from the scourge of sartorial similarity. After all, we wouldn’t want anyone mistaking our students for people who actually get paid.

Vera Files: Perpetuating Fake News Through Fact-Checking

Ah, the noble guardians of truth, the fact-checkers, embarking on their valiant quest to slay the dragons of misinformation! But lo and behold, in their zealous pursuit, they too can stumble into the murky swamps of absurdity.

VeraFiles, the intrepid defender of facts, finds itself entangled in a web of incredulity as it deigns to fact-check the preposterous notion of Mindanao’s secession from the Philippines.

Oh, what folly! To waste precious time and resources on such outlandish claims is akin to chasing shadows in the dark. Have we not more pressing matters to attend to than entertaining the whims of conspiracy theorists?

In their noble endeavor to safeguard the truth, fact-checkers risk becoming purveyors of the very same nonsense they seek to debunk. Verily, in the kingdom of fact-checking, even the most absurd tales find a moment in the spotlight, casting doubt upon the intelligence of news consumers and the sanity of our times.

A Warrantless Arrest For Rodrigo Duterte!

In a dazzling display of irony, a circus of speculation surrounds the impending arrest of Rodrigo Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The orchestrators? None other than the dubious duo of Harry Roque and Mark Lopez, supported by media giants like the Inquirer and GMA News. Their source? The ever-reliable Antonio Trillanes and Duterte himself, of course. One wonders if they stumbled upon an embargoed ICC press release or just had a fortuitous chat with Lady Justice over tea.

It’s a marvel how these clairvoyants possess exclusive insights into the ICC’s inner workings. Perhaps they’re testing the waters of public opinion or aiming for a sympathy surge by playing the victim card.

But let’s not forget the punchline: even if a warrant materializes, enforcing it within the Philippines is a wholly different saga. It’s a plot twist straight out of a political farce, with characters juggling half-truths like flaming batons.

Welcome to the theater of the absurd, where credibility takes a backseat and the truth is a mere footnote in the spectacle.
