Senator Risa Hontiveros Files Bill To Replace Commission on Human Rights

IMG_3046MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Still believing that what happened in Marawi City was not act of invasion or rebellion, Senator Risa Hontiveros today filed a bill that would all but dissolve the Commission on Human Rights (CHR).

Accusing the CHR of not doing enough to protect the human rights of terrorists, Hontiveros proposed a new agency that would do exactly that.

Under the proposed bill, a new Commission on Terrorist Rights (CTR) will be created with an initial funding of One Billion Pesos for the fiscval year 2018.

Reached by The Adobo Chronicles at a plush resort in Palawan, CHR Commissioner Chito Gascon said that this was a total surprise to him.  He can’t believe that his best friend Hontiveros would propose something that would make him lose his job.

Atty. Gemma Parojinog, also of the CHR, is reportedly being groomed by Hontiveros to head the new CTR.  Parojinog made headlines this week when she said she wants to investigate whether the proper “rules of engagement” were followed in the killing of the terrorist leaders in Marawi.

President Trump Recruiting Philippine National Police Chief For U.S. War On Drugs

2ED82DD0-11CC-4A05-BC4A-ACE95CE966DEWASHINGTON, D.C. (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – President Donald Trump is set to declare opioids as a national crisis in the United States, a move that virtually mimics Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs.

Sources close to The White House told The Adobo Chronicles that Trump is trying to recruit Philippine National Police (PNP) Chief Ronald ‘Bato’ de la Rosa to be his drug czar.

Trump was apparently very impressed with Duterte’s and PNP’s campaign to combat illegal drugs in the Philippines.

”Now that Duterte has transferred the anti-drug operations from PNP to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), I am hoping de la Rosa will have the time to help me with my own war on drugs here in the U.S.,” The White House quoted Trump as saying.

FilAm millionnaire Loida Nicolas Lewis, an outspoken critic of Duterte, wasn’t too happy about Trump’s announcement.

Duterte Declares RevGov!

654B902A-7E67-4783-BE32-79601BC8808FMALACAÑANG PALACE, Manila (Exclusive to The Adobo Chronicles) – Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has declared RevGov, as of 8 a.m. this morning, Sunday, Philippine Standard Time.

No, not Revolutionary Government.  At least not yet.

Rather a “Review of Government,” ordering the review of the performance of all government officials — from the police down to the officials and employees of the executive department.

Part of the revgov is to fire all corrupt government personnel, including those who are found not to be doing the work they were hired to do by the Filipino taxpayers.
