QUEZON CITY, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Quezon City Bureau) – In his sixth and final State of the Nation Address (SONA), then President Rordrigo Duterte vented frustrations over ABS-CBN’s supposed dishonesty by importing its equipment “tax-free” and declaring only four hectares of property when it actually has 40 hectares.

Now, the owners of the ABS-CBN Broadcast Center have said they are ready to demolish their iconic building.

But questions arise as to whether or not the government should confiscate the building as payment for the disenfranchised network’s owed taxes.

Netizens argue the building could then be sold to the leading legitimate television network, GMA 7.

LTFRB Sets New Standards For Jeepney Smoke Belchers!

MANILA, Philippines (The Adobo Chronicles, Manila Bureau) – Whenever there is an election for a new Pope, the sign that a Pontiff has been chosen is the white smoke (as opposed to black) that comes out of the roof of the Sistine Chapel in The Vatican.

This age-old Roman Catholic tradition is being adopted by the Land Transportation Franchise and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in the Philippines through new implementing rules of the government’s Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

Not all old jeepneys will be phased out — only those that emit black smoke from their vehicles. White smoke belchers will be just fine.

No reaction yet from PISTON and other striking transport groups.
